Summary: Racer is unplayable Product: Wine Version: 1.3.24 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: bugmenot123456@mailinator.com
Created an attachment (id=35498) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=35498) Output of racer under wine-1.3.24
Racer used to work fine with wine-1.3.14. Somewhere between version 1.3.14 and 1.3.17 it stopped working. Now racer infinitely loops with following error after pressing "Race" button:

Can't confirm. Does not crash here and i can enter the race. Tested and works under: * 1.3.17, 1.3.24
As you are the only one, who sees the issue, could you please perform the regression test: http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting

My cpu is too slow to bisect the issue :(
Come on, it's not that bad. Try at first with 1.3.24. Maybe it's already fixed for you.

--- Comment #4 from bugmenot123456@mailinator.com 2011-07-09 08:30:40 CDT --- I've tried this already with 1.3.24 as it stated in the initial message. Ok, I'll try to bisect, but this would not be finished soon, I suppose.

--- Comment #5 from bugmenot123456@mailinator.com 2011-07-09 12:45:22 CDT --- That is strange. I can't get into the game even with wine-1.3.14. I'm getting the same error messages =(

That is strange. I can't get into the game even with wine-1.3.14.
Than regression test couldn't help you. It seems that something got broken during wine upgrade. Could you re-name your .wine folder and could you try to install the game in clean wine environment under 1.3.24?

--- Comment #7 from bugmenot123456@mailinator.com 2011-07-10 07:15:21 CDT --- It doesn't help. I removed ~/.wine, directory with racer binaries and got the same error message.

--- Comment #8 from bugmenot123456@mailinator.com 2011-08-18 17:10:27 CDT --- Wylda, can you specify which exactly version of racer have you tested? I can enter the game in racer-0.8.34, but not in racer-0.6.5.5 or 0.7.3. Have you tested racer-0.6.x or racer-0.7.x?

--- Comment #9 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2013-11-13 16:52:12 CST --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 2 years. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.6 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.6 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).

--- Comment #16 from Andrew Nguyen arethusa26@gmail.com --- With wine-9.8, I was able to launch Racer v0.6.5.5 using the linked ZIP download and start a "Free Driving" session and a "Quick Race" game. I was able to use the mouse controls to drive the player vehicle on the race map.
I think it's safe to say that Racer is playable with current Wine, so I'm resolving this bug as fixed.
