In the game shaiya, if you go under graphical options and turn Water Surface Effect two things happen:
*The water itself dissappears, so it just looks like grass. *Some bushes and plants can be seen through other objects, for example, if I stand behind a wall, I can still see the grass on the other side.
As long as this effect isn't on, those two bugs are no longer present.

I have tested this on versions 1.0.1 all through 1.1.14, I think that it has always been this way. I am using an nVidia Corporation GeForce 8600M GT (rev a1) 512mb, and it is running on the Proprietary NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version 177) provided by Ubuntu under Hardware Drivers.
The Video card doesn't matter though as I have gotten reports of this from other people as well as testing it on various computers.
I haven't changed any default 3D settings (assuming you mean under the NVIDIA X Server Settings), although I have tested various settings in the game Shaiya just to see what worked and didn't and Water Reflection was the only setting that didn't work.
