Bug ID: 46239 Summary: Champions of regnum regressions Product: Wine Version: unspecified Hardware: x86-64 OS: Mac OS X Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: hbdev@protonmail.com
Hello,
This game was working fine but every new Wine version bring always more problem. I'm now stuck with version 2 like 2.0.4.
Version 3 of Wine have many problems:
- Huge framedrop every x second. The fps count go to or near 0 and go back to normal, this in a loop. Vsync is active if it can help debug.
- Changing character like enter the game, go back to character selection, enter the game, go back to charcter... do this 4 or 5 times and the game crash. It crash with 'xp' for windows version. It crash less with win7 or above but higher the windows version is setup, higher is the framedrop.
- With Wine 3, if you play in windowed mode, click something else like finder or firefox, go back in game... randomly the mouse and keyboard no more work and i must restart the game.
I don't open a ticket for each (maybe i should) but the problem is maybe that nobody has take a look on it since a moment. It would be nice to get some fix for this old but very cool game that a lot of people still play.
Thanks for your work !

Please try with wine 3.21.
I have test 3.16 or 17 in the past without luck.
I just have test a bit 3.21 and fps is maybe ok, need more testing, but when i have start the game, no mouse or keyboard was working ingame. A small trick was to click or doucle click on the windows title many times.
This input problem is since V3, is there a trick or a special commnd i can do to optimize compatibility ?
Wine 2.x don't have this problem.

--- Comment #4 from kamax hbdev@protonmail.com --- I just faced another input lost keyboard+mouse but without switching screen now.
I was in game doing nothing for maybe 15s and when i have try to move, nothing. A double click on the windows title to put the game in "false fullcreen" (it take the whole screen but still has a window title) fixed the issue.
I have see some weird framedrop, not going near 0 but near 30 (instead of rock solid 60fps. When i switch windows to click on firefox, the game go in a sort of energy save mode and display 30fps. And while playing, i have see the fps going very close to this numbers.
I suspect the game can't catch input correctly but i can still play. A sort of micro input lost for some milliseconds, just enough to enable this energy save mode and fps drop.
And the logout/login bug still exist. Only one logout, select, char and try to go back in game has freeze it. This bug exist for wine 2 and 3.
Please take a look.
I use Wine 64 and 64 bit game version. 32bits game version juste crash horribly even with wine 32.

Wine 2.x don't have this problem.
Can you please run a regression test?
