--- Comment #1 from Bob Johnson muleyryan@fastmail.fm 2012-07-24 22:17:21 CDT --- Running on 3.4.6-1-ARCH, with S3 Inc. SuperSavage IX/C SDR (rev 05)
xf86-video-savage and MESA savage drivers installed.
Using gdi as d3d renderer.
On Wine 1.4.1 game loads, runs, you can play missions, but when you hit escape (to view mission objectives, wingman commands, etc) the game crashes.
Tried to reproduce on Wine 1.5.9 but the application fails to run. Bug report on 1.5.9: http://pastebin.com/mTX4bPet

--- Comment #2 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2012-07-24 22:43:36 CDT --- Please file a separate bug for the wine-1.5.9 crash. In that bug report, try to report which wine change broke it. --- Comment #4 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for two years. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.25 or newer) wine?

I can also confirm this bug. Tested with Ubuntu 14.04 (32 bit) and wine-1.7.38 and the GOG release of the game.
Could you test 1.8 or 1.9 series of wine? 1.7.38 is really outdated version now.

--- Comment #8 from Antti Sokero antti.sokero@gmail.com --- I tested the game (from gog.com "STAR WARS®: TIE FIGHTER (1998)") on - wine-1.9.23 - Ubuntu 16.04 - Nvidia 367.57-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 - 32bit wine prefix - Logitech F710 gamepad
...and to me this issue seems to have been fixed. I could not get to crash while entering the "Escape menu" during gameplay.
Recorded a short video of the gameplay. Seems like the mouse cursor is missing this time, but I´ll take a look to it and make a new issue about it....
