Hello folks,

confirming, though it's as Austin said: probably a dupe of existing PDF-XChange
Viewer 2.5.x bugs.

Only the 64-bit version seems affected, 32-bit PDF-XChange Viewer runs fine
with search.
The crash can be avoided by relay tracing the 64-bit process (which makes it
less useful for diagnosis though).

I noticed something strange I hope it helps! If I open a document and then I
closed it as Tab (the program is still running) and the I reopen the document
everything works fine!

Confirm same problem with PDF Xchange viewer v. 2.5 build 311.0, wine-1.6.2
under ubuntu 14.04 64 bit. Will try to attach backtrace.

The same search (same PDF Xchange viewer, same document) works under
Win7/64bit.

Your wine version shows  Wine build: wine-1.6.2. That's 2-3 years old and not
supported software anymore. Can anyone upgrade wine close to 2.0 series and
retry?

PDFXchange Viewer Portable v2.5 build 322.8 (Jan 24 2018) under Wine
1.6.2-0ubuntu14.2 amd64 (actually Linux Mint 18.3) doesn't seem to crash any
more when searching for text in a PDF. It used to succeed in finding the first
instance, then crash when you clicked the "next" button. This no loner happens.

I can't tell whether I have 32-bit or 64-bit version installed- anyone know how
I find out?

I have ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/syswow64, and
$ grep arch= ~/.wine/*.reg
/home/graham/.wine/system.reg:#arch=win64
/home/graham/.wine/userdef.reg:#arch=win64

So I guess, I am using the 64-bit version.

Looking at the bitness of the WINEPREFIX is not a reliable method.
You need to look at the actual program binaries.
