Bug ID: 37169 Summary: Powerdirector 11 Ultra: Run as Administrator Product: Wine Version: 1.7.25 Hardware: x86 OS: Mac OS X Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: mewtwo2643@yahoo.com
Created attachment 49403 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=49403 Output from Wine on the terminal
To get this issue: Create new prefix, install Windows Media Player 9 (winetricks wmp9), run the AutoRun.exe found on the disc, install it, and run it. After clicking on the button to enter the full editor, it starts to load but then a window pops up complaining it doesn't have administrator access and it quits afterwards.
I couldn't find a trial because powerdirector 12 is out now. This torrent might work though:

You also might be able to try using the Powerdirector 12 trial. The steps should be the similar for 11 (tell me if they don't):

The important thing is that Windows Media Player 9 is installed.

Can an admin please remove the illegal download link from the description?

--- Comment #2 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello folks,
looks like you have a broken WINEPREFIX.
Install the app in a clean (new!) 32-bit WINEPREFIX. Start the main executable from the folder where it lives (= working directory).
Regards

It will hide the rest of the comment, here's an edited copy:

--- Comment #4 from Peter mewtwo2643@yahoo.com --- Sorry about the link, I was trying to give something for testing.
I found both the 32bit and 64bit installers on the disc and have tried to install both into 32 and 64-bit prefixes respectively. The 32bit version has the same issue and I think that was the version I installed originally because the 64bit version can't even complete the install (InstallShield Error 1628).

--- Comment #5 from Peter mewtwo2643@yahoo.com --- Tried again on Linux Mint 17 with Wine 1.7.18
I got both Powerdirector 32bit and 64bit installed in 32bit and 64bit prefixes and both asked for adminstrator rights.

--- Comment #6 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for over a year. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.51 or newer) wine?
