Summary: Xinerama - Fullscreen apps minimized when focus placed on app on other screen Product: Wine Version: 0.9.43. Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: wine-opengl AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: shivermail@gmail.com
Steps to reproduce: 1. Open a fullscreen application with WINE >=0.9.42 on one monitor (17") 2. Move cursor over to other screen and place focus (by clicking) on any other application. eg: Firefox browser
Observed result: When placing focus on another application on one screen, the fullscreen application becomes minimized to the taskbar on the other screen and shows only the desktop. You are able to maxmize that application again and continue as normal, but this means that you cannot have a fullscreen application open on one monitor while working on the other.
Expected result: In builds 0.9.41 and prior placing focus on another application did not alter the state of the fullscreen one.
Workaround: When running applications in windowed mode instead of fullscreen, I do not have the same issue.
============ Setup: Gentoo (2.6.21-gentoo-r4) AMD X86_64 NVIDIA-Drivers (100.14.11) using Nvidia 7900GT
I am currently running fluxbox with Xinerama across two screens. One 17" @ 1280x1024 and another 19" LCD (widescreen) @ 1440x900.
17": I run fullscreen applications on this monitor (which happens to be World of Warcraft in this case, using WINE and rendered with OpenGL).
19": On this monitor I run everything else. Browsers, TERMs, etc.

AT THE MINIMUM you have to mention: 1. Application name 2. How it behaves on windows and how is it different then Wine?
Closing invalid

Did you read the bug description at all... ASK SOMEONE TO TEACH YOU HOW TO READ!
"I run fullscreen applications on this monitor (which happens to be World of Warcraft in this case, using WINE and rendered with OpenGL)."
I was being general because it does it in ALL fullscreen applications! On windows... it doesn't lose focus. The window stays as fullscreen. Like its supposed to.
Way to be friendly and helpful...

On both monitors? At the same time?

In Windows and in WINE <0.9.42: The monitor with the fullscreen application (running on the left) will remain fullscreen. When I move my mouse across to the other monitor (running on the right) and click once on any regular non-fullscreen application that new application gains focus and the fullscreen application remains as fullscreen.
=WINE 0.9.42:
The fullscreen app minimizes when you change focus to another non-fullscreen app on the other monitor.

--- Comment #6 from Jesse Allen the3dfxdude@gmail.com 2007-08-13 21:14:28 --- The problem you describe is caused by the design of the game, not wine. Wine is correctly functioning. I just confirmed this same behavior where activating another app across two monitors causes WoW to minimize on windows. I'm curious to know how you are doing it on windows as you say.
