Bug ID: 39079 Summary: The Settlers: Rise of an Empire: missing object shadows Product: Wine Version: 1.7.49 Hardware: x86 URL: http://www.gamershell.com/download_20703.shtml OS: Linux Status: NEW Keywords: download Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: gyebro69@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 52066 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=52066 terminal output
Shadows (cast by buildings, characters, vegetation) are completely missing from the 3d world in Settlers VI: Rise of an Empire game, tested with game version 1.7.1. Reproduced with nouveau/mesa git and nvidia binary drivers 340.76 too. Disabling in-game anti aliasing, changing graphical detail level or disabling GLSL doesn't make it better.
The problem can be reproduced in the demo version too. Install and start the demo, then launch any of the available missions to observe the issue.
The problem is present in Wine 1.4/1.6 too.

--- Comment #1 from Béla Gyebrószki gyebro69@gmail.com --- Oops, I wasn't thorough enough when fiddling with the graphical options in the game: reducing shader quality to the minimum makes shadows appear properly (the game automatically disables animation, grass details and reflections in that case).

--- Comment #4 from winetest@luukku.com --- I really dont know about how things are rendered. But I googled DF24 texture format and the wiki said that it can also include stencil depth then I googled what that means. And it gave short example about setting some value 1 or 0 and after that it said its often used to shadows on 3d rendering.
This is not the only game that wine is lacking shadows. Could this be the reason?

--- Comment #7 from Béla Gyebrószki gyebro69@gmail.com --- This problem was fixed by https://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commit/56d4de0fdee57b0acf02399525a893...
Possibly a dupe of bug #28251.
The broken face of characters and the problem reported in bug #39080 are still occur.
