--- Comment #2 from Carlton Hobbs carlton.hobbs@gmail.com 2009-11-16 09:25:26 --- I confirm this bug still exists in 1.1.33. However, it disappears when DirectX is installed, so it is an issue with Wine's implementation of DirectX.

That seems to be it. I ran "wintricks quartz" and the game now runs, So this is a quartz bug or bugs.

--- Comment #16 from Christian Costa titan.costa@gmail.com 2012-11-13 06:14:39 CST --- So the crash is gone, right? Does the app just exit?
It seems the problem comes from :
err:ole:COMPOBJ_DllList_Add couldn't load in-process dll L"C:\Program Files (x86)\STARWARS_TheBattleOfEndor_v21\truevision3d.dll"
Does this dll exists? Could you add +ole,+loader?
An new bug should be file for the remaining problem as the first problem is fixed.

--- Comment #17 from Carlton Hobbs carlton.hobbs@gmail.com 2012-11-13 19:20:24 CST --- Ah, I just noticed the game was installed to "Program Files" and not "Program Files (x86)" so it is looking for it in the wrong directory. I'm not even sure how to open the Program Files (x86) directory from the terminal so I can run the program from there and see the terminal output. It won't let me just type it as is.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16238
--- Comment #18 from Christian Costa titan.costa@gmail.com 2012-11-15 00:43:34 CST --- As a workaround you can try editing the registry and fix the dll path if the dll exists in C:\Program Files\STARWARS_TheBattleOfEndor_v21.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16238
--- Comment #19 from Carlton Hobbs carlton.hobbs@gmail.com 2012-11-16 20:31:32 CST --- That worked. The game now mostly works. (Wrecking screen resolution on exit requiring logging out and back in is a separate issue, and not sure if an X11 or Wine issue.) ..Thanks!
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16238
--- Comment #20 from Christian Costa titan.costa@gmail.com 2012-11-16 21:55:22 CST --- Does the 'Program File (x86)' exist? Could you say what's inside? You should do it from the terminal but you can you a file browser too. We need to figure out why this dll is registered to point to this directory.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16238
--- Comment #21 from Carlton Hobbs carlton.hobbs@gmail.com 2012-11-17 17:49:36 CST --- I think my installation predated some of the x86/AMD64 work for 64 bit Linux that was done in Wine. That might explain the install location. And what I did was just copy the whole program to the other directory and it ran fine after that. However, I also did a fresh Battle of Endor install into a Sabayon PC, and the game worked there too.
The game is still available as freeware at: http://www.fileplanet.com/217567/210000/fileinfo/Star-Wars:-The-Battle-of-En...
