Summary: Logitech Harmony Remote Software Fails USB Update Product: Wine Version: 1.0-rc3 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: jimrorie@logisys.biz
Technically this is version 7.4.3 which can only be installed by installing 7.4.1 and going though the update process.
Selecting "Update Remote" in the main screen results in a timeout waiting for communication with the remote via USB.

--- Comment #2 from Kai kwbolte@gmx.de 2008-06-09 01:13:19 --- So you should change the rating from Bronze to Garbage as the intention of the software is talking to the USB remote.

--- Comment #3 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2008-12-08 04:19:11 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.10 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #4 from Kai kwbolte@gmx.de 2008-12-08 16:08:53 --- I didn't test it because wine still lacks USB support (which will hopefully come with wine 1.2, see release plan: http://wiki.winehq.org/WineReleasePlan?highlight=(USB) )

--- Comment #7 from Jim Rorie jfrorie@gmail.com 2012-05-17 08:03:42 CDT --- OP here. To my knowledge, Wine still doesn't have USB support, so I haven't tried again.

--- Comment #8 from Kai kwbolte@gmx.de 2012-05-17 10:25:45 CDT --- USB support is a "Potential release criteria for future releases" as you can read here: http://wiki.winehq.org/WineReleaseCriteria?action=show
Perhaps it would be a good idea to create a meta-bug "feature request: USB-support" and depend all the other USB bugs on it.

--- Comment #12 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello folks,
--- quote --- Is this still an issue in Wine 1.7.45 or later? --- quote ---
due to the nature of this "feature request" for sure.
Wine support of USB devices/classes is grey zone. Even with some work being done in input devices area there will likely be no support for the needed device class in the years to come.
* RemoteControl USB LAN driver (ndis5) * Belcarra USBLAN Function Drivers
Also there is this: http://openattitude.com/2011/01/27/how-to-set-up-a-harmony-remote-using-linu... ("How to set up a Harmony remote using Linux.")
There is not really a point to keep this open but well.
A quick search reveals a few NDIS driver related tickets that deal more with adding stubs to prevent crashes but no actual concept/design let alone a proper implementation of something something ;-)

Obviously still present. Kinda pointless with the amount of infrastructure/redesign required in Wine and in presence of native Linux solutions.
