Under Wine 1.1.22 (and latest git) khost.exe exits silently, no errors.
The app loads and unloads psapi.dll a number of times before finally giving up, but native psapi.dll makes no difference.

--- Comment #10 from Ken Sharp kennybobs@o2.co.uk 2009-07-09 12:08:52 --- Channel 4 have ceased their 4oD download service and removed the download from their site. BBC iPlayer have moved their download service to Adobe AIR. I don't think I have a copy of the old .exes.
So, unless someone can provide a URL for the old download (they're basically Kontiki rebranded), this bug should be marked abandoned.

--- Comment #12 from Damjan Jovanovic damjan.jov@gmail.com 2010-05-07 13:57:23 --- The # in "cache:c4_home.html#pageId=0" is a comment marker and must be escaped, otherwise parsing stops and the command line passed to the application is wrong.
The latest Git should fix this (please test) by launching the .lnk file instead of building the entire command line into the .desktop file, but the lack of escaping could still still cause a bug for .lnk filenames in some cases, so I will send a patch for it.

The .desktop file no longer contains the "#" so it looks like that is created correctly, but the result is the same in wine-1.7.11-272-gc7a11f9.
Tried ie6, ie7 and ie8 but they made no difference. Native hnetcfg from Windows 7 has too many dependencies.

The .desktop file no longer contains the "#" so it looks like that is created correctly
That was actually the fix to this particular bug, and is the same in Wine 3.0-rc3. Everything else that happens later needs a new bug report. This is fixed as the application is now able to attempt a start.
