C & C Timberian Sun reports that the comctl32.dll is an older version when in wine is set to a windows version higher the windows 98. (never tried winver ME) But on XP or win 2000, you get this error. After that wine reports that comctl32.dll is up todate, thus a catch 22.

Can someone check if using `winetricks cc580` (see http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks) helps? A WINEDEBUG=+version log may be also useful.

The only issue when the installer runs to install the game. I will include a log of all warnings that lead up to the point the the dialog box shows up with the warning about the comtctl32 being out of date.
I havent' had time yet to get around to trying winetricks in any depth to see if that may make a difference.
I will post the log of wine 1.1.1 done with a fresh directory.

If the installer is using the version API, this may give a hint what's going on. You could also try WINEDEBUG=+msi. If you have another log with a lot of warnings then this can also be helpful.

Program Reports that comctl32.dll is an older version and suggests running 401comup.exe upon install. Hitting contiune creates another dialog box saying the update is not nesseary. Continuing on a dialog box appears saying that oleaut32.dll is an older version and suggests running vbrun60.exe (which I assume is visual basic 6 run time dlls) I did try one install with VB runtimes installed before the game..but it made no differnce in the out come.
Log ends after last dialog box.

same criteria as other attachment. Hit continue to go through the dialog boxes. Log continues until program wants to do a system reboot which is right after the oleau32.dll dialog box.

The fix will be included in Wine development releases starting from Wine 1.1.2. It may get included in the next stable release 1.0.1.
