I tryed to install irfanview 4.10. But when i run wine to start the setup
program, it do not do nothing and return to my shell

my system is:Linux kubuntu 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Tue Dec 18 08:02:57 UTC
2007 i686 GNU/Linux

Lets start with the command line you are using.
Second does things like 'winecfg' and 'notepad' work?
Also do not include strace - it's useless for Wine.

Worked fine here. Remove ~/.wine directory, copy mfc42.dll into
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32.
Works for me reopen if you still having problem
