--- Comment #4 from Lei Zhang thestig@google.com 2008-05-06 14:15:33 --- Yes, the EEE pc has an intel graphics card. What *version* of the intel driver are you using? Maybe attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Are you using Xandros that came with the EEE PC?

--- Comment #5 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2008-12-26 16:38:31 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.11 or newer) wine? May be a driver bug..

--- Comment #6 from Julius Schwartzenberg julius@zgod.cjb.net 2009-02-24 06:21:07 --- To play GTA2 in Wine with the Intel driver you need to get the latest Mesa from GIT (the latest release doesn't have the necessary fixes yet) and set the RenderTargetLockMode to readtex.
See this bug for more information http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19818
Wine should somehow automaticly select the readtex backend on systems using the Intel driver.

--- Comment #9 from Mads mads@ab3.no 2010-09-20 09:15:28 CDT --- I see this is from 2008, but as far as I know, GTA2 is still unplayable on any eee pc with an intel card still to this date (tested on 1.3.2). When I say unplayable, I mean the frame rate makes the game go at least twice, maybe three times as slow as when you play it on a more capable machine.

Bug 12893 depends on bug 18713, which changed state.

--- Comment #11 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com 2013-04-19 21:52:13 CDT --- I can confirm this problem but I'm not sure it is a wine problem or a intel driver deficiency. Currently I'm using mesa 8, when debian launches mesa 9 packages I'll try again to see if there are any improvements.

I'm running Debian Squeeze x86_64. Setting the RenderTargetLockMode to readtex works for me.
That's the default these days, explicitly setting it shouldn't make a difference.

This is my fault, I had to include my Wine version, which is 1.0.1. It's still being used by some distros.. I wanted to implicitly confirm the bug and emphasize it's solution.

Thanks for testing, I still have the same hardware from my last test so I'll give this a new try.
