Summary: Fonts unreadable on TaxAct forms Product: Wine Version: 1.1.0 Platform: PC OS/Version: FreeBSD Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: fonts AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: protagonist@charter.net
Created an attachment (id=14563) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=14563) Screenshot of normal text and a form
I am running PC-BSD V1.5.1 and used the latest PBI update to update Wine from the 1.0 series to 1.1.0 and all appeared to go OK. I have been using Wine since the 0.9.x series to do my Taxes with a Windows version of TaxAct and it has worked fine with the exception of a couple of minor problems.
After doing the update I ran up TaxAct and the first screen appeared normal. All the text looked as it has all along. However, when I open up a form to display the fonts appear to be grossly enlarged and the form is completely unreadable. If I tab to an entry box that appears to be normal but any values entered become unreadable when I tab away from it.
Attached are two screen shots, one of the text screen and the other of a form. Please contact me if you need any additional information.

--- Comment #1 from Lei Zhang thestig@google.com 2008-07-08 19:57:34 --- Does it happen with the freely downloadable version as well? I don't remember it having problems when I tried it during tax season.

This problem started with the recent Wine 1.1 release which is the latest in use with PC-BSD as a PBI. The problem did not occur with any of the previous versions I used in the 0.9.x through 1.0.x series.

This is a new bug that was introduced in the 1.1 update. I never had this problem before then.

--- Comment #5 from Lei Zhang thestig@google.com 2008-07-09 17:28:47 --- If it used to work, but does not work anymore, that's a regression.

If it used to work, but does not work anymore, that's a regression.
I misunderstood you then. To me regress means to return to a previous behavior and since it had not previously behaved in this manner I did not understand you.

Huh? Please explain as I do not understand what you mean by "wrong commit".

Bear with me as I have not used this bug reporting system before. Other than the version that broke the program for me and screen shots what else do I need to do?

Thanks for the info. This could be a bit of a problem since I am using PC-BSD and not Linux. There looks to be enough differences to make this a bit beyond my capabilities these days. It has been a long time since I have been into this stuff. I think i will just wait and hope the problem gets resolved down the line. Thanks to all of you who have replied.

--- Comment #13 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr 2008-07-10 00:05:22 --- I tried the downloadable version. The font looks good for me (it seems that some text is misplaced though). Can you remove your .wine folder, reinstall the software and try again?

I will give that a try tomorrow if I get a chance.
