Summary: "Fancy shadows" don't render correctly Product: Wine Version: 1.1.22 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P4 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: eiffel56@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=21246) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=21246) Ingame screenshot showing floating shadows
It is possible to activate that "fancy shadows"(well, they are rendered in realtime in contrast to the old ones) with latest Wine. Sadly, they won't render correctly. The shadows are there, but not displayed under the objects that should get the shadows. They are just floating in the air. It gets even worse if you set the shadows to the maximum, enabling building's shadows. Attached is a screenshot showing the situation. The red circle shows my character's one.

--- Comment #1 from Christian Weeks cpw@weeksfamily.ca 2009-05-25 10:41:54 --- I can confirm the same experience when enabling Wow.exe with d3d instead of opengl, and turning on "advanced shadows". The shadow masks appear to render randomly at the top layer of the viewport. It's quite surreal.
It should be noted that wow now runs (1.1.22) with d3d instead of opengl!

--- Comment #2 from Lisa Denia eiffel56@gmail.com 2009-05-31 11:09:48 --- Using the newest Wine from GIT(latest commit is fbb43c42a752039544daed980f7e590134be475a), all "fancy" shadows(that includes all shadow settings except the first one, which is old and works so far) will just not be drawn.

--- Comment #3 from Ken Sharp kennybobs@o2.co.uk 2009-05-31 11:24:50 --- Are you saying a new bug has been introduced with the latest git?

--- Comment #4 from Lisa Denia eiffel56@gmail.com 2009-05-31 18:38:19 --- Yep, you're right. This is a regression, I opened a new bug report(http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18721) regarding this issue.

--- Comment #5 from Lisa Denia eiffel56@gmail.com 2009-06-01 13:58:59 --- I noticed that if you set OffscreenRenderingMode to fbo, the fancy shadows will as far as I can see render correctly.

--- Comment #6 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2010-03-11 17:21:24 --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 8 months. Is this still an issue in current (1.1.40 or newer) wine?
