Summary: Tom Clancy's Ghost Squad: terrain textures not displayed on Core2 Duo PC Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: PC-x86-64 URL: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version &iId=3666 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: wine-bugzilla@lovingboth.com
Game installs and runs ok, however terrain displays are solid black (Ubuntu 8.10 x64 with Wine 1.1.19) or solid light blue grey (Ubuntu 8.10 x64 with Wine 1.1.19 or 1.1.20). So for example, trees have the right shape and happily wave in the wind, but are black / grey.
I can see the terrain in Igor.exe (the game's mission editor) and the sky / characters / overlays like the grass in the first (caves) mission are fine.
This happens regardless of screen resolution, buffer depth, texture quality, texture compression or mipmap settings. It is also unaffected by running on one CPU core or two, or OpenGL's 'sync to VBlanck' setting.
Textures display ok on Athlon64 PC with 2G RAM, Ubuntu 9.04 x64, Nvidia 6150.
Problem on Core2 Duo PC with 8G RAM, Ubuntu 9.04 x64, Nvidia 8500GT which runs several other games (e.g. Thief 2, The Thing) fine.

--- Comment #1 from Ian Watters wine-bugzilla@lovingboth.com 2009-05-01 06:25:48 --- I feel slightly dirty for having tried it, but it displays correctly under Windows XP x64 on the Core2 Duo machine.

--- Comment #2 from Ian Watters wine-bugzilla@lovingboth.com 2009-05-24 14:22:15 --- Updates...
With 1.1.21 - this program would not go full screen correctly (the GNOME menu bars were visible, and would take the focus if the mouse pointer was at the very top, or towards the bottom of the screen).
With 1.1.22 - it goes full screen again, but the textures still are not there.

--- Comment #3 from Ken Sharp kennybobs@o2.co.uk 2009-05-25 06:53:39 --- Wine version should be the first time the bug (is known to have) appeared. The appdb shows platinum for around 1.1.5, did you try with an older Wine?
Are you using the latest Nvidia drivers?

Success! Thank you.
Now all I need to do is see why this works...

--- Comment #7 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2010-06-04 15:43:50 --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 11 months. Is this still an issue in current (1.2-rc2 or newer) wine?
