Can confirm that this happens with the latest mono (1.2.5) and the sample
applications (actions.exe in this case) have no fonts installed.  Error log, in
text format, attached from run.  It appears that Pango/cairo cannot resolve
fonts and thus creates a panic/critical situation in Mono.  This causes fonts
to not be displayed.
