Installing MailStoreHomeSetup-8.2.0.9316, I obtained the following error message: unimplemented function msvcrt.dll._vscprintf called in 32-bit code (0x7bc4e580). I was in Ubuntu 13.10.

You put an outdated native C-runtime override (probably 6.x) into WINEPREFIX. Older msvcrt don't export this API needed by 'libmono-2.0-x86.dll' hence the crash - you need at least 7.x C-runtime.
Anyway, the use of native msvcrt is discouraged - just don't do it. Wine's msvcrt is mature enough.
