error file when updating Origin software on Ubuntu 20.04

When installing Origin Software to run Sims, the installed software will run,
but the update fails, and causes the crash. We are unable to move forward with
logging in to Origin to install Sims.

Hello,

Looks similar to bug 48793.

Which Origin installer is this, Legacy or Latest?

Stable Wine 5.0 doesn't have all the latest fix and features.
Please, retest with recent wine (current version is 5.7), preferably
wine-staging because of bug 44691 and bug 32342.

Hi,

using wine-staging 5.5 and Origin client install and update is okay. Login and
start any of my games work (BF 1, BF 3, BF 4, BF V, Titanfall 2...).

Update to Wine-Staging 5.6. Login works but then the webhelper crash. The
Origin Client will only show a white screen and no content. Starting the games
will only work if i start the game exe file directly.

Update to Wine-staging 5.7, no Login possible.

Downgrade to 5.5 and anything works as before.

There must anything begin with Version 5.6 and will become more a problem with
Version 5.7.

Maybe this information will help to investigate in the right direction.

Hello,

One issue per bug. The issue here is UpdateTools.exe crashing.
Let's work on that issue first and if other issues remains then they are
unrelated.

I personally didn't have issues with origin with wine 5.5 + a selection of
staged patches. I didn't test Origin with 5.6 or 5.7 yet.

The attached backtrace from the OP indicates that he was using wine-stable 5.0.
The issue the OP is experiencing may be simply because he used the stable
version that lacks newer fixes and features. I want to check that first.

Hello,

i know it's off the topic but maybe this information is important for the
current bug.

The Process QtWebEngineProcess.exe makes problems in Origin. Starts with
wine-staging 5.6 up to version 5.8 this Program from the QT Framework fails.

This Program will start again and again in the Background. Testing all Versions
from 5.6 to 5.8. All versions has the Problems i mentioned above in my first
post.

To use the Origin Client i have to downgrade to Version 5.5. Then 5.9 can out
and all works like it does with Version 5.5. Maybe a little faster :-) Maybe
Version 5.9 can also solve the current Post error.
