Summary: Civilization IV crashes with fixme:winmm:MMDRV_Exit Closing while ll-driver open Product: Wine Version: 0.9.46. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-directx-d3d AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: fredrik.p.persson@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=8284) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=8284) Annotated trace
I've installed Civ IV 1.61 + NOCD with wine 0.9.45. Installation worked, but the program wouldn't start.
Now with 0.9.46, the program still fails to start but with another error message.
I've included a trace as an attachement. I've also included a screenshot of the error message that pops up.
I'm running with the lowest possible settings in the games graphics, I have a 256MB graphics card and I've tried to set Video RAM in regedit to both 64MB and 256MB.

--- Comment #2 from Maarten Lankhorst M.B.Lankhorst@gmail.com 2007-09-29 03:51:40 --- That winmm message has NOTHING to do with the entire bug, it pops up because winmm was shut down incorrectly AFTER the crash already occured. What the real bug is I don't know, it seems to be d3d related, those d3d messages indicate that, so does the popup you get.

Oh its all my fault. I forget to read the first line of the installation description "Download d3dx9_26.dll and copy it to system/win32." Due to I was unable to find that specified directory, I copied the dll into system and system32 (and additionally into the manually created system/win32)
Thanks for your support.

--- Comment #8 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2008-10-28 12:04:01 --- Wine provides d3dx9_26.dll. It shouldn't crash with ours if it doesn't in native.

--- Comment #9 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-05-03 21:26:38 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.20 or newer) wine?
