Summary: No auto-complete with Wine's command prompt Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: cmd AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: ssjgokux3@gmail.com
I was having difficulty navigating to the "Program Files (x86)" folder from my favorite Bash console Guake. Having said that directory I am on a 64-bit machine. So I went into my home directory and into the Wine system folder and launched cmd. I tried navigating through the system to try to launch something and I noticed that I can't do auto complete using the TAB key like you could in the actual MS-DOS prompt. It just gives me carrots and other symbols like this:
T^
And won't auto complete. This is very frustrating. I am using Wine on Fedora 14. Wine version 1.3.10 and kernel version (For what it's worth)
Linux fedora 2.6.35.10-74.fc14.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Dec 23 16:04:50 UTC 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

--- Comment #1 from Paul Romanyszyn pgr@arcelectronicsinc.com 2011-01-14 09:19:47 CST --- Workaround I found. Use wineconsole cmd instead of wine cmd. If you enter a wild card like cd Pro* this will get you to c:\Program Files.

Workaround I found. Use wineconsole cmd instead of wine cmd. If you enter a wild card like cd Pro* this will get you to c:\Program Files.
That's nice. But it doesn't necessarily fix the problem with cmd. Unless this intent is for me to use this as a temporary workaround until the auto complete is added in wine cmd? O_o?

--- Comment #3 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2011-01-14 11:18:10 CST --- This would be a nice enhancement. Until someone has time to do it, wildcards are a handy workaround.
BTW the wildcard trick works fine with wine cmd, it's not dependent on wineconsole.

--- Comment #4 from Paul Romanyszyn pgr@arcelectronicsinc.com 2011-01-14 12:58:52 CST --- wineconsole gives the doskey functionality of last commands used by using the up/down arrows.
