Summary: Yahoo Messenger 9 menu invisible, 'X' box hotspot in wrong place Product: Wine Version: 1.1.12 Platform: Other URL: http://messenger.yahoo.com/download/ OS/Version: other Status: NEW Keywords: download Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: dank@kegel.com
Yahoo Messenger 9 installs ok (though the install hangs at the end), and even starts, but the menu doesn't display (usually). You can access the menu via the keyboard by pressing alt-m, and then it draws itself.
Possibly related is that the hotspots for the minimize/maxmimize/close window decorations are below where they should be; you have to click on the (undrawn) menu bar instead of on the window decorations to get them to do anything.

--- Comment #3 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2009-03-23 05:36:22 --- I wasn't aware of any other apps this affected, and clicking on "Show Apps affected by this bug" above doesn't bring up any. Can you name a few and/or submit this bug link on the other affected apps in the appdb?

--- Comment #7 from fracting fracting@gmail.com 2012-01-19 03:30:50 CST --- Is this still an issue in latest Wine? I tested Yahoo Messanger 11.5, and the main UI draw itself as expect. After work around Bug 21579, the chat area is transparent, I'm looking for a known bug for it or report a new one.

No. I recommend to close this bug. Would you do this Dan?

--- Comment #9 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2012-01-19 11:15:25 CST --- I tested again on Ubuntu 11.10 and wine-1.3.36 using 788a9b40e8e2fa2464533f85662417d832c38b0f ymsgr900_2161_us.exe from http://www.filehippo.com/download_yahoo_messenger/5673/ The install completed ok, but the menu problem is still there.
There's something very odd going on: you can't drag the window via the title bar, but you can via an undrawn section just beneath the title bar; this is where the menu is drawn when I press alt-M. And if you click on the left side of this, you get the menu that you normally get from clicking on the left end of any windows title.

--- Comment #11 from Joerg Schiermeier mywine@schiermeier-software.de 2012-01-19 18:22:18 CST --- Created attachment 38453 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=38453 YIM 11.5 - uncorrect behaviour of the apps menu and 'X' hotspot
In other words, the problem in the summary is still exactly the same as it was.
Oooops, this was my fault: yes, this error is also still present in YIM 10 and YIM 11. The last one is directly from Yahoo's download-URL. Here is a screenshot from this upper part of YIM.
After I start the app, the menu is there but not click-able. So I have to use Alt+M, exactly as you described. See the No. 1.
When I close and open again the GUI, then this menu disappear. A click on 'X' only work if you click below. See No. 2.
So this bug is still alive. We can say: in all the last versions.

--- Comment #14 from Joerg Schiermeier mywine@schiermeier-software.de 2012-09-21 20:54:47 CDT --- Created attachment 41773 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=41773 Missing menu
I don't want to confuse the wine team, but this bug is gone in Yahoo v11.5.0.228 on wine v1.5.13 partial. The hotspot for the 'x' to close the application is now in the right place.
But the menu is missing complete - but the menu items list appears if I click blind where the menu has to be.
If it still effects earlier versions of Yahoo - I didn't know and I can't test it.
