The bug is still present in 1.4; I have attached the errors generated by wine along with the backtrace, as I generated something slightly different (I think the core issue is still the same, though).

I got rid of 1.4 and tried it in 1.5.2, but I'm still getting the same error, so I have no idea why it's working for him.

You don't need winetricks; deleting Wine's vc90 "deadbeef" manifest is all that is needed to work around this. That should have been mentioned in the test reports, though, and the ratings should have been gold rather than platinum.
