Bug ID: 40101 Summary: winepulse.drv freezes installer of MCM2 Demo Product: Wine Version: 1.7.55 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: winepulse.drv Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: wylda@volny.cz Distribution: ---
Motocross Madness 2 Trial freezes, when i try to install it. Installer has only one button named "Install". When you press it, it remains pressed and installer freezes.
Workaround is to build wine --without-pulse. Then installer continues normally to "Checking hardware..." screen.
Version set to wine-1.7.55 as first occurrence of Pulse driver.
Tested working version (without pulse): * 1.9.3, 1.9.0, 1.7.55
Tested non-working version (with pulse): * 1.9.3, 1.9.0
Installer of the full version of MCM2 is also affected.

--- Comment #2 from Sebastian Lackner sebastian@fds-team.de --- I can't reproduce this issue here with the winepulse driver. After clicking on "Install" there are three texts "Checking hardware...", "Initializing setup engine ..." and "Calculating disk space..." showing for a short time. As a next step the installer asks for the installation path. I assume you don't get that far with winepulse, is that correct?

--- Comment #3 from Wylda wylda@volny.cz --- Created attachment 53589 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=53589 Debug console log from wine-1.9.3 + pulse
As a next step the installer asks for the installation path. I assume you don't get that far with winepulse, is that correct?
No. The pushed button does not even return to unpressed state. Immediate freeze. Button remains pushed and installer is completely frozen.

--- Comment #4 from Wylda wylda@volny.cz --- Ignore the "No.". I wanted to say, "Yes it's correct". So there is no chance to see the first window with "Checking hardware...". Sorry for the mess.

--- Comment #5 from Wylda wylda@volny.cz --- Agrrr. That problem was somewhere lower. I noticed, that even video in firefox freezes immediately when started. Sounds were missing completely. Reboot of the whole machine fixed firefox & wine.
Really sorry for the noise. Embarrassing... :-/

To not be totally wasted - maybe this could be taken as an example, that wine could survive such constellation and remain alive - without sounds. Like it was in case of non-pulse wine-1.7.54 and lowers.
