I tried winetricks mspatcha as mentioned in the appdb entry, but it only got rid of the mspatcha fixme, installer still didn't succeed.

In that case can you please attach new output? This is clearly failing on PatchFiles, so it must be blocking any other error.

Acutally, I probably did something wrong last time, because in both a new 32bit and new 64bit prefix, I got it to work now.
I used wine-3.13 with two patches applied:
https://source.winehq.org/patches/data/149051 https://source.winehq.org/patches/data/149040
and installed winetricks -q mspatcha.
I guess that would make this a duplicate of bug 12501?

Yes, it would seem so. I suspect that 149051 fixed your problem.
