Bug ID: 42556 Summary: Shogun: Total War crashes with an unhandled division by zero, in wine staging only. Product: Wine-staging Version: 2.2 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: aaronbpaden@gmail.com CC: erich.e.hoover@wine-staging.com, michael@fds-team.de, sebastian@fds-team.de Distribution: ---
When using wine-staging 2.2, Shogun: Total War will show the loading screen and immediately crash. This happens when loading or starting a new game.

--- Comment #2 from Michael Müller michael@fds-team.de --- I bought the Gold Edition at Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/345240/) and I am not able to reproduce the issue. The game works fine for me with Wine Staging 2.2. I started a historical mission and could not observe any crash or division by zero.
Is there anything else that you have changed in the wine prefix which might make a difference or did you forget to mention any other step that is necessary to reproduce the issue? Is this maybe a random bug and does not occur always?

--- Comment #3 from Aaron Paden aaronbpaden@gmail.com --- Sorry for the delay.
You're right, I didn't test the historical battles, which are just predetermined battle scenarios. They do work without crashing, though I still observe #42555 in wine-staging.
No, what crashes is the full campaign. After selecting "choose a clan" and "start game", the game will try to load the campaign map and then crash. This is 100% reproducible with a clean profile.
Note that, the game is known to not work well with modern Windows, but I also observe the crash when the windows version is set to Windows 98. I'm also using the CD version. I'm not sure if the Steam version changes anything to help compatibility with modern Windows.

--- Comment #4 from Aaron Paden aaronbpaden@gmail.com --- Coming back to this bug, I'm not able to reproduce this with wine-staging 2.3, so it may have been a problem specifically with 2.2.

Coming back to this bug, I'm not able to reproduce this with wine-staging 2.3, so it may have been a problem specifically with 2.2.
2.4 is out. Could you retest with fresh wineprefix? And if it still works mark as fixed.
