When I try to start the lynx web browser it just shows a console window that
gradually gets smaller, then the app quits.

It appears I assumed it was a GUI application. It needs to be started from the
console.

This works in my Windows VM, however, running this on Wine in Mac doesn't
appear to be doing anything and just hangs indefinitely.
