Summary: CPU Governor OnDemand: Slow Performance in certain games, e.g. Sacred 2 Product: Wine Version: 1.1.28 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: ghost_zero5@gmx.at
Hi,
I am using Ubuntu 9.04 64Bit and if I run Sacred 2 I get a terrible performance if I have the OnDemand governor active. If I set to OnPerfomance I have a way better performance - though it still isn't as good as in Windows though.
I am using a nVidia 9600 GT Green Edition with the 190.25 driver.
I think in Guild Wars it is also a bit slower with OnDemand than with OnPerformance but it isn't that extreme and I can't be for sure as it could also have been because of Internet speed or server load for Guild Wars.

I want to add regarding this that this isn't really surprising though. Especially, as I use a different graphic card under Linux than Windows because of the currently still better nVidia Linux graphic drivers.
However, the other "part" is still "strange".

--- Comment #5 from Andreas Allacher ghost_zero5@gmx.at 2009-09-04 15:23:53 --- Because I don't have those issues everywhere, e.g. if I encode a video it works fine but true it might just be a kernel issue. Maybe it is even only Sacred 2 related, would have to try other applications to get a perfect picture.
