Try running in a virtual desktop. The app starts minimized, and in a virtual desktop you can click on the icon, and then it started fine for me

I just created a +ole log in a completely clean Wine environment. I installed the software and after that ran magent.exe with WINEDEBUG=+ole. Then the error showed and I clicked the button to close the dialog & the program.
On a sidenote, with winetricks dcom & riched this program actually works quite well now. I was able to send several SMSs with it.
Btw everything was done with Wine 1.1.2 on Ubuntu Hardy.
