--- Comment #2 from Rico kgbricola@web.de 2012-09-21 03:26:19 CDT --- Please have a look at http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=26686 - Does not launch.
Could you please proved a demo url? Is it this one: http://www.torchlight2game.com/download/full-installer ?
From the comment above... does the demo have a copy protection?

--- Comment #3 from Drakier D winehq@drakier.com 2012-09-21 09:38:01 CDT --- The download link I used was: http://download.runicgames.com/installer/Torchlight2_StubInstall.exe which then extracts itself and then you have to run the tl2.runic.launcher.exe to download the 1.3GB more of the actual game.

Yes the game has a copy protection. If you use the stream version it is the normal steam copy protection. in the Runic version there is also a copy protection and for now wine will crash because of it. If you use a fixed exe without the copy protection, the game runs fine - gold rating.

--- Comment #5 from Screwtape thristian@gmail.com 2013-09-03 05:04:07 CDT --- It has come to my attention that the specific DRM scheme used by the Runic build of Torchlight 2 is GameShield. This DRM scheme was also used by Torchlight 1 (see bug 23090), L.A. Noire (bug 29128) and Max Payne 3 (bug 30822), and that's just the ones I found by searching Bugzilla for "gameshield".
I can confirm that under Wine 1.7.0, Torchlight 2 crashes and burns when you click the "play" button in the launcher/updater tool, but if you apply a crack to remove the DRM it works pretty well.

--- Comment #6 from Screwtape thristian@gmail.com 2013-09-04 09:48:48 CDT --- Seems to me like this (effectively) a duplicate of bug 29448, since I don't see this problem any more in Wine 1.7.1.
