Summary: winememubuilder keeps adding the same associations for Nautilus Product: Wine Version: 1.3.10 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: jan-winehq@h-i-s.nl
I am testing with installing applications on an Ubuntu machine. To remove the application, I remove the ~/.wine directory.
However, re-installing for example the office suite, duplicates all file association entries in Nautilus each time. Thus, in the Nautilus "open with" menu I now have 10 times the same excel application. Can winemenubuilder check if an entry is already present, and not add the next, same, entry ?

--- Comment #2 from Damjan Jovanovic damjan.jov@gmail.com 2011-10-28 12:04:50 CDT --- What, Gnome and Nautilus still exist? :-)
This cumulative duplication should be impossible.
Please zip up and attach your ~/.local/share/applications and ~/.local/share/mime directories and all their contents, and a screenshot of Nautilus's duplicate entries.

Created by richt-clicking on an excel file, NOT selecting ons of the defaults, and then clicking on open with. The list then is acually much longer: an seemlingly endless list of excel, access, powerpoint and word icons

How many Nautilus entries do you count? Does this count increase after re-installs of the Office suite?

--- Comment #6 from Jan Hoogenraad jan-winehq@h-i-s.nl 2011-11-20 07:21:10 CST --- Indeed 19. Thus I have misdiagnosed the problem as a re-installation problem.
Apparently, this is a wine/ Nautilus interface problem showing each association instance in the "open with" dialog, rather than one entry per program.
For native linux appluications (gedit, open office etc.) only one entry is shown in the menu,

--- Comment #7 from Jerome Leclanche adys.wh@gmail.com 2011-11-20 08:15:12 CST --- (In reply to comment #6) Sounds like a nautilus bug. You should file it on https://bugzilla.gnome.org/.
Resolving this one INVALID. Please reopen if you're sure it's a wine bug.

--- Comment #8 from Jan Hoogenraad jan-winehq@h-i-s.nl 2011-11-20 08:38:20 CST --- I do consider this a wine bug, rather than Nautilus. Linux expects all extensions for one application to be clustered into one file, where extensions are separated by ; after MimeType=
Instead of clustering (See for example the openoffice entry in the attached zip file), wine creates many files.

--- Comment #9 from Damjan Jovanovic damjan.jov@gmail.com 2011-11-20 08:42:07 CST --- If you expect a single fd.o application entry per Windows application, this is a duplicate of bug 25166, and a hard problem to solve.

I still think you should file a bug with nautilus as well.
