Summary: Bottom of windows cut of with KDE4 Dual-Head Setup Product: Wine Version: 1.1.37 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: m.duelli@web.de
I am running a KDE4 dual-head setup, i.e. two parallel monitors, on Gentoo.
I have the KDE control bar displayed only on the left screen.
When I start MS Word 2007 via wine 1.1.37 and place it on the right screen (which does not have the control bar!) I can see a cut off bottom when I maximize the window via the window manager.
I will attach two screenshots: - The first shows a window which fits to the screen as if there was also a control bar on the right screen. - The second shows a maximized window on the right screen with the bottom cut off
Note: I also tried to manually resize the window to the maximum of the screen. This basically works at first, but when you change between applications, the bottom of the manually resized window is also cut off.

--- Comment #3 from Dmitry Timoshkov dmitry@codeweavers.com 2010-02-04 08:28:08 --- The problem is that _NET_WORKAREA has no equivalent for multi-monitor setups, Wine just assumes that all monitors have the same work area. Once there is official support for such setups from X11 then there will be some hope.

--- Comment #4 from Michael Duelli m.duelli@web.de 2010-02-04 14:24:31 --- Thank you for the fast reply.
However, I wonder why wine does not simply limit the work area for the second screen as it does for the first.
I do not complain because of unused area on the screen, but due to the cut off content.
Would it be possible to more easily fix this problem in that way?

It's what WM does, not Wine.

On Wine side I don't see how without proper support from WM side.
