Bug ID: 58362 Summary: Virus The Game doesn't render properly. Product: Wine Version: 10.9 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: hibbsncc1701@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 78754 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=78754 Console log.txt
When running Virus The Game, the game's menus appear corrupted in most cases. With different sections of the screen not updating properly. When actually in a level, most of the UI is missing, and the 3D environment is rendered with bad texture colors.
See attached images.
Creating the HKCU\Software\Wine\Direct3D\renderer registry value and setting it to "gdi", makes the UI visible when the player is in a level, but does nothing to fix the game's broken texture colors, nor does it fix the menus.
This bug occurs regardless of whether or not the game uses it's D3D support or it's software renderer (Game uses Renderware 2.0. SW rendering is enabled by renaming RWDL6D3D.DLL in the game's install directory.) Can't really test the game's GLIDE renderer because none of the wrappers I've tried work under wine. (dgVoodoo just crashes under wine when enabled, others seem to require a native ddraw.dll which fails due to missing functions "wine: Call from 7BD45358 to unimplemented function GDI32.dll.GdiEntry1, aborting".)
Console log attached.

Created attachment 78758 [details] Missing Level UI.
Note: The Folder Tree on the right side of the Missing Level UI image is *supposed* to be there.
The game's gimmick is that the player is fighting (Descent style) an "infection" of their own computer. It uses previews of TXT, JPG, and BMP files as some textures through out the levels and generates the map layouts based on the player's actual filesystem tree.

--- Comment #6 from Ken Sharp imwellcushtymelike@gmail.com --- Confirming with Wine 10.9. I couldn't test against Windows 10 because the installer is 16-bit.
