Problem with winebuild under cygwin

I am trying to build Wine cvs under Cygwin and when trying to build dlls I get this error: ../tools/winebuild/winebuild -o advapi32/advapi32.spec.def --def advapi32/advapi32.spec Unable to create output file '(null)' make: *** [advapi32/advapi32.spec.def] Error 1 Does someone have any idea on how to fix that ? Hello all, I have a question about "our" press page. Ive been looking for incidences where wine is mentioned in the press so when I update the press page I can do one nice update with "most" incidences where where mentioned. Errors in user tests

Running the user tests, I get different results if run with 'make test' and manually in a terminal. If run with wine in a terminal: listbox gets 16 failures (no failure with make test) msg gets 24 failures (only 1 failure with make test.) If I launch the same runtest command that gets started from Makefile, I get no error. I dont understand what is happening here. A patch for CompareString I sent recently to wine-devel has lots of tests and fixes for all the differences we have found so far. WineHQ: PATCH to fix IPersistFile::Load() and associated functions

Hi. I finally produced the "official patch" after verifying that everything is OK. Thanks to Dimi for putting up a temporary diff for me meanwhile ;) This patch has been inlined as well as attached as a ZIP file, so suit yourself. All reports regaring this patch is to be sent to <subhobrotosinha at yahoo.com> with a proper subject prefixed by "IPersistFile patch" in the subject header. For the uninitiated, here's what has to be done: Please make sure that you have the 20031016 source (latest tarball) (1)Copy this .diff to dlls/shell32/ (2)Run 'patch' on this diff file (3)It should patch "shelllink.c" (4)Type 'make' to rebuild 'shell32.dll.so' (5)'su' out and overwrite/symlink the current 'shell32.dll.so' over the installed one Now IPersistFile::Load() should work as intended. Rc1 had a bug that caused winesetuptk to crash when it looked for a real windows drive and didn't find one. Hi, I believe there is a bug in cxx_frame_handler which causes an infinite loop of exceptions I believe the offending lines are 359-364. BTW, original exception was a call to NULL. getting started with Winelib

Hi, I just installed wine-20031016. Trying to compile the test drive application as explained in the winelib user's guide 1.3.2, I end up getting the error message below. Regression patch found - now what?

Hi all, I have identified that the commit at http://www.winehq.org/hypermail/wine-cvs/2003/09/0204.html is causing a regression to my application. This is the same application that kept generating the sigsegv and catching it not so long ago (http://www.winehq.org/hypermail/wine-devel/2003/10/0044.html). after applying this patch, the program will no longer run. I get a dialog saying "unexpected error". I suspect that moving the instruction emulation ruined, in some way, the application's ability to call cli and sti. printing broke?

All, I have a question about cups printing. I have had wine apps be able to print in the past, but after a recent reinstall of wine I can't seem to print anymore. I can print from Linux just fine and Wine sees my cups printers. But when I try to print from Notepad it does nothing and when I try to print from Notes I get an insuffiencent memory error. I have tried both a source (CVS current as of 10/21) install and the RPM (2003/10/16) from source forge and both give me the same results. I admit I have not tried the 2003/9/11 build yet. Anyone else seeing this? Kevin

(vstserver/winelib) What happened to pthread_create and pthread_join?

Hi, I when trying to use vstserver with the latest cvs-version of wine (23.10.2003), wine cant load the winelib program because pthread_create and pthread_join functions are missing. Of course, I do solve this problem just by linking with the glibc pthread library. But, what has happened? When reading scheduler/pthread.c, some radical change seems to have happened since the last time I read the file. In short, my question is: How do I configure/make/link my winelib program to get proper support for the pthreads commands with the new system? (And a related question, any plans to support pthread_setschedparam in the future?) --

There can be 3 outcomes, 1. segfault -> NTFS changed significantly 2. change will be caught by libntfs or ntfsresize 3. no changes and it will work. I expect 2. Instant crash with wine 20031016 - regression?

Hi, Im trying to run Acclaim Re-Volt Demo with wine. It didnt start at all, complaining about drm errors. Having tons of dsound errors, I disabled the dsound with "Drivers" = "" in config. And know what ? Re-Volt now starts further. I want to debug this issue, but I dont have any idea where to start digging. Xlib and wine and XGrabButton

I currently write a small desktop app (in case you are curious http://sourceforge.net/projects/launchmenu) and for this I have to research on how to grab mouse events and eventually keyboard as well. Now I thought that this might be usefull for wine when playing games under the DirectX emulation, so I checked the sources for XGrabButton()/XGrabKey() and I couldn't find any references to it. When I tried to play Thief and Thief 2 I always had the problem that the keys are going to the shell where I started it from, instead of going into the game. I wrote a small test app for my project in order to get this feature straight and there I could capture all mouse events (haven't tried keyboard, but it should work equally well) without any interference with the remaining X system. Is this intenttionally that these functions are not used and if so what is the reason for it? Or is there a layer in between wine and X so that wine is not using Xlib API directly? I have downloaded the PSDK from the MSDN site, and although it says Microsoft Platform SDK February 2003 in the Start menu it really was just downloaded one month ago and my comctl32.lib does not contain symbols for at least DPA_Create() and DPA_GetPtr() while it does contain most of the other DPA symbols. Hi, Sent to wine-devel as well: this might break some odd edit controls that I did not catch. This fixes masked edit controls used by applications created by Power Builder, it fixes bug #807. Power builder depends on the return value of the WM_CREATE message by the EditWndProc to be != 0. Now I spent some time creating EDIT windows, varying parameters (with or without text), varying styles including multilines even tested the edit part of a combobox. In all cases the WM_CREATE message return value turned out to be 1. So at the very least this seems to be the common case, and not zero as in wine's implementation. So I propose to put that in, and if it breaks hope it will be caught. ChangeLog: controls : edit.c A WM_CREATE message sent to an Edit window procedure should return 1. MDI windows, MDIClient and mdiclient

Hi all, I am trying to make an application work under wine. The app is probably an MFC app, that defenitely uses MDI. The problem boils down to this - it tries to create an MDI window by doing SendMessageA to a message of type "WM_MDICREATE". Here's the catch - the class it wants to use is in Unicode. This fails for obvious reasons. I'm trying to find my way around the MDI setting, and phrase a regression test. However, I cannot seem to create the exact same circumstances. When looking at the original app using Spy++, I see that the application has a window from the very start of the app (long before it sends WM_MDICREATE), which does not appear to have WS_EX_MDICHILD set, but which has a child window of class "MDIClient". Running the same app in Wine using --debugmsg +win,+class, I can see that it asks to open a window of class "mdiclient". I do not, however, see anywhere that such a class was ever registered! Furthermore - the call succeeds. Can anyone enlighten me? Is this window necessary whenever an MDI is present? If so, what function do I use on the parent window to tell it that it is to be an MDI container? IMO its a waste for both WINE and ReactOS to have 2 different implementations of MSVCRT.DLL/CRTDLL.DLL Is there any valid reason not to either remove one and have both projects use the other or to merge both and come up with one dll?

Instant crash with 20031016 - regression?

Hello After compiling and installing Wine 20031016 it crashes instantly. Older versions up to 200309011 work without problems.
