Wine on cygwin

It seems kernel and ntdll are not seperated properly as I can build ntdll.dll on cygwin now with no problems but when it gets to dlls/kernel it is failing with this error. If I include the ntdll files wine/memory/* wine/loaders/* and others in kernel32 then it will build. Mac OS X and Wine troubles

Hi, First of all I have a good news :) : Wine is able to build on Mac OS X. We decided not to follow WineHQ cvs version for early build, in order not to be so much disturbed by others wine development and not to produce bad patches, but don't worry ;) we are (of course!) planing to send patches, I hope they would be integrated... I had never use Wine before so sorry for the basic questions. I ran wineinstall, everything goes well until wineinstall attempts to launch regedit. Wine goes wrong, it tells me : Warning: no valid DOS drive found, check your configuration file. Warning: could not find wine config [Drive x] entry for current working directory /Users/steg/Documents/Programmation/wine; starting in windows directory. /Users/steg/Documents/Programmation/wine/miscemu/wine: cannot find './programs/regedit/regedit.exe.so' For me the problem comes from somewhere in the reading of the file ~/.wine/config, which exists and is parsed, but maybe I missed something in wine configuration (like a register file or something)? Could someone tell we wether I am wrong or not? Secondly I manage to copy a windows folder to the root '/' of my disk, so I can launch an app with the command "wine notepad.exe". I added a basic Mach-O (Mac OS X binary file format) compatibility to libwine in order the file type to be recognized. But now I am getting error like: wine: could not load 'C:\windows\regedit.exe': dlcompat: dyld: wine Undefined symbols: _FormatMessageA _RegCloseKey _RegCreateKeyExA _RegDeleteKeyA _RegEnumKeyExA _RegEnumValueA _RegOpenKeyA _RegQueryInfoKeyA _RegSetValueExA I suppose that the problem comes from the fact that the dlls are not loaded before the notepad.exe, assuming that the problem is still related with the ~/.wine/config reading. Do I suppose right? If you have any idea of what could be wrong, or just a thought drop me a line, it could be very useful :) Cheers, Pierre

cvs hangs

Hello, since the crash, every cvs operation I do hangs at the end. [Concurrent Versions System (CVS) 1.11.1p1 (client/server)] For example: tba:/usr/local/src/wine/ $ cvs status configure.ac =================================================================== File: configure.ac Status: Up-to-date Working revision: 1.151 Repository revision: 1.151 /home/wine/wine/configure.ac,v Sticky Tag: (none) Sticky Date: (none) Sticky Options: (none) <wait for a very long time, then get bored and press ^C> cvs [status aborted]: received interrupt signal The same for an update, too. It seems to do a perfect job, though. cvs is sleeping in tcp_data_wait indefinitely. I have no idea what can cause this. Any advice? Feri.

[FYI] cvsup on glibc2.3 systems (e.g. RedHat 9)

Folks, As I've reported earlier on the list, cvsup compiled for glibc 2.x (x < 3) systems does not work on the new glibc2.3 systems, such as RedHat 9, or Mandrake 9.1, due to the threading changes. I've been looking all over the net for a precompiled binary of cvsup that works on these new systems, as cvsup is written in Modula 3, which is a bitch to setup. Finally I gave up and did the work myself. I've created a complete binary package which can be download from: http://www.dssd.ca/wine/cvsup-glibc2.3.tar.gz Note that the binaries are not small as they are statically linked, but they should work on all glibc2.3 system. The archive contains the following files: cvsup-glibc2.3/bin/cvpasswd cvsup-glibc2.3/bin/cvsup cvsup-glibc2.3/sbin/cvsupd cvsup-glibc2.3/man/man1/cvpasswd.1 cvsup-glibc2.3/man/man1/cvsup.1 cvsup-glibc2.3/man/man8/cvsupd.8 Simply copy them to the /usr/local prefix. They are compiled to go to /usr/local, they may work even if copied in /usr, but I haven't tried that. Enjoy! -- Dimi.
