DLL Version Stamp Problem

Framemaker 7.0 installs fine on Wine but pops up an error message that it can't properly determine the version of one of it's dll's (actual error message = "The version stamp is missing from the Framemaker resource file C:\Program Files\Adobe\FrameMaker7.0\fminit\fmres.dll"). After poking at the specific dll (fmres.dll), it has no version information. Does anyone have experience with the Wine/Windows version stamp reading functions (I've seen code references to 'GetFileVersionInfo(<stuff>)') or any advice on debugging further. Darwine Update, Question

Hey All, I have updated Darwine binary to version 1.06 and it is being released as a Developer Preview. It does not yet support the running of x86 exe's, however we are begging to work on this feature. The binary should be downloaded from either the home page link here http://darwine.sourceforge.net/download.php or the projects file release page here http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=69890 to insure that the latest version is being used. The binary requires Mac OS X 10.3 or higher and for the X11 SDK to be installed. The new installer checks for these before installs, fixes a numerous amount of bugs, including installation of default configuration that were present with the first release and now includes the wine headers. The darwine team is begging to test out libwine on the OS X platform. One error that comes up during compile is the "checking for wrc... /usr/local/bin/wrc checking for atldef.h header... configure: error: Could not find the ATL includes". I found a ATL version 2.0 from microsoft's website and downloaded these. However, it does not contain atldef.h. Though it does contain altbase.h, altcom.h, atlconv.h to name a few. I read that the ATL includes are part of MFC is this correct? How would one go about finding the source and compiling these headers using the ppc native - libwine, so that the altdef.h headers can be used? Thanks, ~Sanjay Connare

Question about system.ini and win.ini

Hi, I've just figured out that system.ini and win.ini are no more accessible from my ~/.wine directory. I had to copy them in the windows directory to make things work. Is it a recent change in wine or just a regression? Thanks in advance, Christian

problem on the Cygwin port

Hello, When trying to build anything on Cygwin I am getting the following error from Winebuild. $ make ../../tools/winebuild/winebuild -DNO_LIBWINE_PORT -o regedit.exe.dbg.c --debug - C. about.c childwnd.c edit.c framewnd.c listview.c main.c regedit.c regproc.c tr eeview.c Unable to create output file '(null)' make: *** [regedit.exe.dbg.c] Error 1 I have not been able to find a patch or something that caused this problem so it may be my cygwin enviroment. Sorry, forgot to mention, under Win9x in the debugger the output is the same as under the Win2k debugger: argv[0] is c:\src\cmdlinetest\Debug\cmdlinetest.exe GetCommandLine returns "c:\src\cmdlinetest\Debug\cmdlinetest.exe" Hmm.. that contradicts what I said, doesn't it? Can't get a minimal Windows app running with winelib

I can't get a minimal Windows app to run with winelib (it compiles fine). Compatability problem in wineps driver

It appears that a check needs to be made in ps.c. The method PSDRV_WriteSetFont passes the parameter size. In some early Win 95 versions there was a bug that required that parameter to be negative and some early windows programs make size negative. This produces garbage. It appears that Windows checks and if that parameter is negative that it is changed to posative. I put a patch to make this check into our copies of Wine without any problem but I do not suggest a patch. I would like the maintainer of the Postscript driver to do that as there is a possibility of other consequences. It may be that this change can be made in ps.c or it may be that it must be accompanied by a flag in the config file also. One program that will not run without the patch is DeScribe but I know there are others.

can the wine debugger be disabled

Hello, Before anyone flames me let me say that I'm perfectly aware of the continuing effort of the Wine team for greater compatibility with Windows applications, and that the debugger is instrumental in that quest. However, in the company I work for we will replace a hundred or so PCs which run Windows with Linux PCs. The people using these PCs are the most clueless possible, and we want to avoid aggravation from them when/if the Wine debugger shows up when an application fails. That's inacceptable since those people would be lost and not know what to do. However, I cannot figure out how to do so using configuration files (wineserver -d0 rarely does the trick, and I don't think we can rely on that). So I humbly ask for directions so that I can alter Wine's source code to not call up the debugger and instead show a dialogue to inform the user of what happened. Naturally, any application which misbehaves and is important enough *will* be debugged, we just can't have the debugger showing up every time, leaving the app frozen. (sorry if it's been asked before, I couldn't find out how to search of the mailling lists) Thank you in advance. Cristovao.

Linking against a dll

Is it possible to link a wine application against a Windows dll without calling LoadLibrary? The documentation says: > All the libraries you link with should be available as '.so' > libraries. But, the chapter "Building WineLib DLLs" talks only about taking a Linux library and making it available as a .dll.so library.
