RFC: OpenSSL vs NSS

Hello, I believe we have a licensing issue with the crypto implementation in Wine and would like feedback relating to this. I know that some of the OpenSSL developers monitor this list so please provide feedback. The first question is in regards to the following: Clause 3 of OpenSSL license: * 3. All advertising materials mentioning features or use of this * software must display the following acknowledgment: * "This product includes software developed by the OpenSSL Project * for use in the OpenSSL Toolkit. (http://www.openssl.org/)" This stipulation seems to introduce a incompatibility with the GPL. For normal Wine this is not a big deal but if someone wants to make a Winelib application that is GPL or if I want to take Wines Wininet and Adavapi32 code in to ReactOS this presents a problem. Am I correct in reading it this way? If I am correct and it is incompatible with with GPL then would any of the Wine developers object to changing out crypto implementation to use NSS from Mozilla? I have spoken with the developers of Network Security Services for Mozilla and it has recently been tri-licensed MPL/LGPL/GPL on CVS tip. http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/pki/nss/ >From the what I understand this lib provides everything we need so all it really means is that our soft dependency on OpenSSL in now a soft dependency on Mozilla. If we want to use the webbrowser module in Wine then a Mozilla dependency will be there already so we might as well use the security implementation while we are at it. No, definitely not, this sort of thing is like metrically-compatible fonts: they basically need to be donated (or we need to license them/equivalents ourselves from Roland or some other music company somehow).

[PATCH] Implement an Esd sound module

Hi, all, I'm now using the GNOME desktop environment which uses esd as sound server, sometimes I need wine to run some Windows apps with sound support, but now wine has no esd sound module, so I have to killall esd before I start wine. I have searched the mailing list for solutions, found there is a bug about this: http://www.winehq.org/hypermail/wine-bugs/2002/12/0066.html http://bugs.winehq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=326 I have try esddsp, but it sometimes does not work, so, I decided to write the Esd sound module, it's based the Arts sound module, just replaced the arts calls with esd calls, and fixd some problems related to esd. It works fine for me, I attach the patch here, and if it works for the others, it may close the old bug #326. Test: $ wine sndrec32.exe See if it works. I can't the form's content while typing

hi all! i have an app running perfectly, except for a bug that hides the words from the fields. if i commit the data filled it is stored as expected but i can't see it while i'm typing.. understand? in the debug messages we can see these lines when the form pops up: ... err:win:SetWindowPos detected negative window extents 355 x -5 fixme:win:SetWindowTextA cannot set text "" of other process window (nil) fixme:win:SetWindowTextA cannot set text "" of other process window (nil) fixme:win:SetWindowTextA cannot set text "" of other process window (nil) err:win:SetWindowPos detected negative window extents 47 x -5 err:win:SetWindowPos detected negative window extents 205 x -5 ... any idea? i've already tried the "Managed" windows mode, no success.. thanx for attention. cheers rxon

strange problem on mdk10

on my laptop wine just starts and doesn't do anything. In addition to this, ps -A, ctrl+c, ctrl+z, the kde system guard and all tools that popup a box to ask for root password all stop working. Attached is a relay log. Any ideas?

No, vsnprintfW is used directly in ntdll.spec, you can't change it.
