Encoding PSP movies with wine. Well, the Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) is out in the U.S, and one of the cool things you can do with it is encode movies for playback on the system. Sony hasn't released their encoder yet, but you can use a program called ffmpeg to convert videos to the quirky PSP Mpeg4 format... ...kinda The Linux version of ffmpeg can encode PSP movies, however the id tag is hardcoded, and you don't get any data about the Name of the movie or it's length or anything. (It's just called "-" in the browser. You have to pull from the cvs version, the homepage is here... http://ffmpeg.sourceforge.net/index.php There is a Japanese fork of ffmpeg for win32. As it's GPLed software, the source was released. This includes all kinds of cool hacks for better streaming and also support for the ID tag for the PSP. Sadly, the id tags require Unicode, (As it's a Japanese machine) , and the hack involves a call to MultiByteToWideChar() to convert the title to something the PSP can display. Last night I tried to backport the hack to the Linux version using mbtowc() and failed horribly. My code-fu is much too weak. So, I as I couldn't "fix" the Linux version, I gave wine a spin and came up dead in the water. saving winrash

Hello all, currently winrash users aren't returning any results from their testing. This is because we need tests to run on a visible desktop, better still in interactive mode. To save both the tests and winrash we need winrash to be somewhat similar to windows automatic updates, when new tests are available, winrash should pop up and say "new tests are available, run now?" and then give a yes/no, later option. Like this we can have interactive tests, and use winrash so people don't have to remember to download/run the tests. I do it but downloading the exe manually/opening a command line in the desktop/running the tests with the -t option/deleting the test.exe file isn't exactly user friendly. Maybe this task should go in the todo list, or should at least go on the web site somewhere, it would be an attractive task for newcomers with windows programming experience. Ivan.

visual regression in IE

Hello, I tried to search for information on regressions on the winehq site but I couldn't find it (maybe it should be made visible on the documentation page?) Anyway, in internet explorer a visual regression happened: with my previous cvs build from 15 march, things were displayed correctly, but now (cvs build from 23 march) the 'address' and the 'links' fields are displayed incorrectly: they are bigger than they should be, and they are 'striked through' which should not happen; See also the attached screenshots - I'm sure it's clear what I mean; Could someone point me to the correct pages to find out what caused this? I'm sure someone will be fix this a lot faster than I could do but I want to learn how to solve such a problem :) regards, Joris

Game loads and runs again. 2) The login/character select screen will occasionally be extremely choppy/slow. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't, and there seems to be no direct cause from what I can tell since the traces are identical. Once in the game it performs nicely from what I've seen, so it's really just a minor irritation. Some, however, have reported that these two patches don't solve the problem. Hey guy's my first time asking for support on wine so I will try and make it a quick one. Now I am having troubles with colours in text and behind text. I am trying to get a game to run correctly it's a MMORPG called legend of mir, now everything runs fine but the text box where you send and recieve messages all the "colors" behind the text is black all of the text is black is this a bug in wine? has anyone seen the other Windows "emulator-cross-platform" library Twin around lately? I'm getting into Windows programming with theForger's Win32 Tutorial - got a personal project I want to fool around with - and while Winelib is a very satisfactory Win32 API library on Linux, I was wanting to have Yet Another Cross-Platform Implementation Thereof to test it against. I've just been hunting for it and www.willows.com seems to have vainshed off the face of the 'Net. Any ideas?
