file locking

I've been playing around with file locking and Wine, namely the fact that Wine doesn't have any. Is there any way around this, maybe placing the burden on a filesystem? If I wanted to share files between two different users (say with something dumb like file permissions 666), is there any way to prevent the two people from stomping on each other? -Brian

Failed to find a suitable visual

Since the patch [1] every time I run any larger app I get this in wine output: | fixme:opengl:X11DRV_setup_opengl_visual Failed to find a suitable visual Does this mean some misconfiguration on my box? How can it be described in simpler words? [1] http://cvs.winehq.org/patch.py?id=18642

Keyboard Layout

My computer works with Linux 8.2. I have tried to install (to execute) a Windows Program on my Computer. The wine-program started and the windows sreen appeared. Suddenly the programm stopped and I got the message: Your keyboard layout was not found! Using closest match instead (German keyboard layout without dead keys) for scancode mapping. Please define your layout in windows/x11drv/keyboard.c and submit them to us for inclusion into future Wine releases. I don´t know how to define my keyboard layout. It would be very nice, when you could explain me how to define my keyboard layout. Thank You

Hi, Any particular reason this patch didn't get commited? http://www.winehq.org/hypermail/wine-patches/2005/07/0361.html It's only a stub but I need it for an app to run.... Shall I just resubmit? Cheers Vik

operating with non-existent files

When I operate with "c:\nonexist_subdir" and "c:\\nonexist_subdir" filenames in Wine and in NT5, most of API functions set the same LastError. That functions are: OpenFile() CreateFileA() SetCurrentDirectoryA() FindFirstFileA() GetFileAttributesA() But if I call this: IShellFolder_ParseDisplayName(IDesktopFolder, NULL, NULL, cNonExistDirW, NULL, &newPIDL, 0) then I get two different codes: * for the first one HRESULT_FROM_WIN32(ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND), * for the second one E_FAIL. This is true for winME and win2k (and not for Wine). Do we need to distinguish between these two filenames in Wine? If so, on top of what functions should it be implemented? Do someone know, how native IShellFolder_ParseDisplayName works in the case of IDesktopFolder? I think the double-slash in the filename has something to do with object names, but I have no ground here.
