It sounds to me like you're trying to read the previous contents of areas of memory. However, you don't seem to realise either that virtual memory is not physical memory or that uncommitted virtual memory is not backed by a page of memory in swap or physical memory, so calling ReadProcessMemory on it doesn't make sense as there is no data there to be read! Furthermore, when a page of virtual memory is deallocated then it free to be allocated again by any process in the system, and as you say it is initialised to all 0's as a security measure and you can't get that same page back again. -- Rob Shearman

What are you trying to do? A little more context might help. ReadProcessMemory Question

I am trying to read the memory of another process with ReadProcessMemory but I can only get it to work when I use VirtualAllocEx to commit the region of memory - problem is (as you very well know) that VirtualAllocEx initializes the region with 0s. So my question is how do I get ReadProcessMemory to work without using VirtualAllocEx?? --------------------------------- Be a better pen pal. Text or chat with friends inside Yahoo! Mail. See how.

pglXMakeCurrent causes wine to crash on Mac os x

Hello if i run wine on Mac os x 10.4.10 with Apples X11 (opengl linked staticly) i get the following runtime errors; X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation) Major opcode of failed request: 129 (Apple-DRI) Minor opcode of failed request: 2 () Value in failed request: 0x57 Serial number of failed request: 16 Current serial number in output stream: 16 I have found out that commenting out the bad code will not cause that X Error wine crashes in a access violation (SIGSEGV) if (ctx) { // pglXMakeCurrent(gdi_display, win, ctx); } else { ERR(" couldn't initialize OpenGL, expect problems\n"); wine_tsx11_unlock(); return FALSE; } Does anybody know how to get opengl working on the mac.

winetest_interactive : how does it work?

Hi, I just ran winetest (by double clicking on the executable) on my WinXP box. I was missing some advpack popups that were there before. Francois sent in a patch to only do some particular tests when winetest_interactive is true. I would assume that clicking on a executable is interactive, not? AFAIK winetest_interactive is set to true|1 if the WINETEST_INTERACTIVE variable is set to 1 (include/wine/test.h). In programs/winetest/main.c we however only set WINETEST_INTERACTIVE to 0: 692 interactive_no[] = "WINETEST_INTERACTIVE=0", shouldn't WINETEST_INTERACTIVE be set according to the interactive variable in that same file? -- Cheers, Paul.
