Conformance tests

Hi, Running conformance tests on windows on some builds is impossible it wont even complete 1.1.15 was the last one that would run to completion and versions between 1.1.14 and 1.1.15 also failed to complete. Regards, Keith

Effects in D3D10 and D3DX

I have seen that Henri Verbeet has begun the implementation of ID3D10Effect. Since there is a ID3DX9Effect interface I wonder of the possibility of creating something like wined3deffect and refer ID3DXEffect and ID3D10Effect to that wined3deffect implementation.

Testing DIB Engine - Better blitting and partial ROP3 support

Hi, I made some changes to DIB engine : 1) Some more consistent DIB type naming and color handling 2) Partial implementation of 256 ROP3 operations 3) Partial ROP3 implementation on blitting (stil no pattern) 4) Some optimizations in blitting code I attach here the zipped patches. Ciao Max

Windows Unix Subsystem finally catches up to Wine

Hi, This is just some interesting reading you guys might enjoy. It seems, the Unix subsystem will give you the ability to create a mixed application able to call Win32 and Unix functionality. In effect PSX becomes like wineserver and you have to wrap your win32 libs as posix libraries. (sound familure). http://blogs.msdn.com/shan/archive/2007/02/06/posix-code-and-win32-gui.aspx This is dated 2007 so its not really NEW news, but it is still interesting that Wine was able to create cross platform applications for like 10 years before Microsoft was able to with their posix subsystem. Crashes on lack of times.ttf (bug 9623) and using Liberation Serif instead

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9623 Various versions of Photoshop, and now Safari 4, insist on Times New Roman being present or they crash on startup. ("winetricks corefonts" works around it.) Packaging Liberation Serif with Wine and putting a registry key to substitute Times New Roman with it would do the job and solve the bug nicely. The only problem I can see is that the Liberation fonts are GPL (plus font). Would including the font with the Wine download be possible without making Wine entirely GPL? - d.

old testresults in AppDB are useful

Hi, this is a pladoyer in favour of being able to add test data about old releases of wine to the AppDB. Currently, the oldest selectable release is 1.1.11, which is just not enough IMHO. >From a developer point of view, I understand very well that bug reports should be against the newest release, otherwise somebody has to check out whether a bug is still present there (a regular question in bugzilla). However AppDB has two uses: - developers - and users who expect to find there valuable information about how to make applications run. For instance, I'd like to submit a testdata result about Syberia 2 with rating Platinum (or gold) with wine-1.1.6 in order to highlight the fact that this is the only release that works flawlessly: After 1.1.6, sound bug #16513 was introduced. Prior to 1.1.6, the app was affected by other bugs. [Even the 1.0.0 platinum rating is arguably incorrect, as the tester did not play to the end and missed the opportunity to detect the hanging candle machine mid-game.] So my idea is that users whould be able to come to AppDB, immediately see that 1.1.6 has platinum color and has a comment saying that it is the best release for playing this particular application. They are still free to use the most current release, after consulting the app's bug list. I find this cleaner and more useful than submitting 1..N bronze entries for 1.1.11-1.1.16 with an additional note there recommending use of 1.1.6 instead. Other people could package bottles with this particular release, given the 1.1.6-only platinum rating. Something similar holds for some other applications: users may wish to visibly document in AppDB the best existing wine release for using a particular application, rather than commenting on the -- possibly degraded -- current one. The idea is that we can have good AppDB ratings (non-exagerated), while still having new bugs in bugzilla. Regards, Jörg Höhle.
