Hi, I'm trying to add some extra functions to our netapi32 (domain service related stuff) as this is needed by Process Explorer (or actually by native aclui.dll). New eject command issue

Hi, I tried to use the new eject command and this does not seem to work. [RFC] winecfg audio driver test

This is a proof of concept patch that adds a simple audio test to winecfg. All it does is use PlaySound to play a wave file. I am using LoadLibrary("winmm.dll") and FreeLibrary to change drivers. You must press the apply button for the driver change to take effect. There is no error recovery for a missing winmm.dll. The wave file name is in the rc file so a different file can be played for each language. This is probably overkill. I'm not sure where to put the wave file so the program will only work when the wave file is in the current directory. Sorry about the binary wave file. Comments please? Ok to call CoInitialize in the file dialogs?

Hi all, Some shell namespace extensions only work if COM is initialized (For instance the brand-new shell instance objects ;) Go download the free (as in beer) Shell Object Editor from www.tropictech.de if you want to try them.). On WinXP those work without the application calling CoInitialize in SHBrowseForFolder and in the file dialogs. I assume this means there is a CoInitialize/CoUninitialize pair guarding SHBrowseForFolder. For the attached browse.c test program (meant to be compiled with borland's free compiler - sorry) on can browse into shell instance objects on winxp, but the call to GetDisplayNameOf fails with CO_E_NOTINITIALIZED. This means COM is initialized inside SHBrowseForFolder, but un-initialized after the call returns. If you remove the '//' in front of the CoInitialize call and compile again, GetDisplayNameOf succeeds. On wine, you can't currently browse into shell instance objects, if COM is not initialized. If you add CoInitialize/CoUninitialize to SHBrowseForFolder (see attached patch), it exhibits the same behaviour as winxp. How expensive is COM un-/initialization? Get/SetThreadContext problems ?

Hi, apart from the fact that the kernel32/thread tests are failing for Wine and most of the Windows platforms (test.winehq.org) I seem to have a problem with threads as well. The Win32 localization implementation knows how to deal with missing resources (like menu items) in one language. Basically, the English version will be used instead. It's just much easier to know where there are missing parts (programmatically) if the string is absent than if it is the same as English (which can happen, "OK" is used in a couple languages). This is especially true for MENUITEM and STRINGTABLE. It is a bit less true for DIALOG definitions, as as Dmitry already said, references to missing items can wreak havoc. And putting the DIALOG definitions in a common resource file is not doable as item placement/size is dependant on the translation. Which brings the next thing: we need a resource editor, if only to help localization. Vincent

Hi, My first post here in quite awhile. Thanks in advance. I posted this to Wine-Users but got no responses. For a number of reasons this problem is pretty important to we Linux Audio users. The following is a set of very simple instructions to show Wine using 100% CPU usage. I am using Wine-0.9 from Gentoo portage. Another user is using an fc2 RPM file. We both see identical results. No messages from Wine are produced. You will see the instrument and a keyboard. Play the keyboard with your mouse to hear the instrument. Under the Savihost 'effect' menu you can change the sound programming of the synth if you want to. Watch CPU usage in top. When running Crystal.dll in Savihost.exe the system uses 100% CPU, while the Triangle I synth uses very little CPU. Note that we are running the exact same application here - savihost.exe. It's just renamed to the VST instrument name to tell it what VSTi instrument to run.On our systems, both 32-bit and 64-bit, we see about 15% usr, 85% sys when running Crystal, while we see only 5% usr, 5% sys when running Triangle. WHY? We have tried this with many VSTs. It seems that possibly 50% of them are 100% CPU consumers. This is not isolated to just Crystal.dll. Hello, I'd like to get rid of tabs I encounter when reading existing Wine code. Will my patches be let into the tree if I will submit such no-op changes (one patch for one file) from time to time just before normal, operational patches.
