Autoresolving our 554 old UNCONFIRMED bugs

We have 554 unconfirmed bugs older than 90 days. Most of these are likely to be obsolete. It would be really easy to write a script to ping the people who submitted those bugs, and ask them to update the bug if it's still valid. If there's no reply in two weeks, we could mark the bug 'resolved abandoned'. Detailed proposal, including the text of the message to be sent, are at http://kegel.com/wine/qa/autoresolve.html I'd like to send this once packages are ready. debugging app exceptions?

Hi, I am trying to debug an app and making good progress with on sorting out the dlls reqd. but now have an exception I dont know how to follow. The progs own log ends with: 10:21:35 File C:\progs\natz\Program\dd10enum.dll: Version 7.0.0.2 10:21:35 File C:\progs\natz\Program\dmfc6.dll: Version 7.0.0.0 10:21:35 Exception thrown (d:\work\px\trouble\tests.cpp, 936). 10:21:35 10:21:35 Cannot find the file 'nstex50.dll' 10:21:35 QuickCheck Failed. 10:21:36 Final Termination The "cannot find" is erroneous since it has found the file so I need to get more info on the exception , I did a WINEDEBUG="heap" and all seemed OK, I am a bit unsure where to go now. Suggestions? TIA

WINE Regression due to patch applied Feb 22, 2005 10:50 CDT

I've just finished regression testing WINE using the instructions at http://winehq.com/site/docs/wine-devel/x1375 One of my favourite applications, the open-source and freeware KeyNote, available at http://www.tranglos.com/free/keynote.html , experienced a regression between WINE 20050211 and 20050310. I've been too lazy to regression test it for a long time, preferring simply to use an older version of wine, but in honour of WINE's pending non-alpha release I went ahead and tested it. Keynote used to run perfectly under WINE <=20050211, but after 20050310, it doesn't launch: it spits out the error message "Exception EAccessViolation in module kernel32.dll at 0004FF5D. Access violation at address 404DFF5D in module 'kernel32.dll'. Read of address 00000000." and quits. This regression still exists in the latest version of WINE. I found WINE's ability to run the application was broken between 20050222 10:50:10 CDT and 20050222 10:50:15 CDT. Watching the output of 'cvs update', it seems three files were modified during these five seconds: U dlls/kernel/string.c U dlls/shell32/shell32.spec U include/winbase.h I don't know which one is the culprit; I'm not a programmer. I just hope I've given you guys enough information to fix it! Keep WINE alive. It's an awesome utility. P.S. Is there some sort of list of patches and when they were applied? The regression testing page above doesn't link to one (maybe it should!) and I wasn't able to find one I could check against. _________________________________________________________________ Don't just Search. hi all, if we disable the following two lines in DEFDLG_SetFocus function in the defdlg.c (line nos 70 and 71) if (SendMessageW( hwndCtrl, WM_GETDLGCODE, 0, 0 ) & DLGC_HASSETSEL) SendMessageW( hwndCtrl, EM_SETSEL, -1, 0 ); The testcase program given is running correctly, i have asked julliard about this. He said we need extensive testing what is the exact behavior on windows. Does this cause any regressions? Well i dont know whther this is a correct patch ?????? Well before this somebody took a stab at this but having a global variables, this was not accepted as it was a bad idea. Well if there is any other mechanism to know whether the control is a edit box, well we can put some fix so that we save the focus details on the control itself and retrive it form the control. Hi Holly, there's no UI to do this yet, as you found out. By default, you don't need to do any config, at least on Linux. COM1 defaults to /dev/ttyS0, COM2 to /dev/ttyS1, and so on. LPT1 defaults to /dev/lp0.. you get the idea. If you want to change it, you can create a link in .wine/dosdevices from, say, com1 to the device you want it to use. wcmd unusable when DISPLAY not set. Again.

It's been a year or so since my last complaint, time to complain again! wcmd is currently unusable when DISPLAY is not set. Normally, you can do programs/wcmd/wcmd and get a nice DOS prompt. However, if you do unset DISPLAY programs/wcmd/wcmd you get a nonfunctional DOS prompt; for each keystroke, it gives you a new prompt. Pressing ^C terminates wine, and leaves stdin in raw mode. This makes it really friggin' hard to use batch files in a cron job or any other situation where you don't have X available. (And *please* don't tell me to set up a fake X server for this; that should simply not be needed. ) I get pissed off about this every time I run into it, and I'm getting tired of having to figure this out over and over again. Grr, grr, grr. Maybe I should figure out how to make a regression test for this so the next time somebody breaks it, I'm not the first person to notice.

Steam Installer doesn't work in the latest release of wine

At lease I saw three guys claims the same problem...
