Running Palm Desktop

Hi all, I have a palm pilot that came with a lot of different apps, but they have conduits that need windows to function. I have been experimenting with getting Palm Desktop to run with Wine. It installs OK, but it doesn't run because of a bug in WinMM. I can, however, get the Hotsync service to run. But, it doesn't see my USB cradle. Has anyone tried setting this kind of thing up to get Wine to interface with the cradle using the visor driver? I thought this might work, since it emulates a serial port. But, I don't know how to map a COM port to the device. Does anyone know how to do that with Wine 20050628? Thanks, James Liggett

(Would be interested in hearing of any consumer hardware which only does a 1-bit stencil.) Regards, --adam

Hm, isn't it possible that on some pathetic hardware or when lower color depths are used (e.g. 16bpp) stencil is not supported and that software emulation instead of hardware acceleration may be used? ie6setup still failing

ie6setup is still failing to run to completion on my system even after upgrading my OGL to the nvidia one. OGL initialization in ddraw is still my prime suspect as per my last note on the matter. Can anyone say whether internet explorer setup (via sidenet) runs OK under linux since this problem might be an Solaris specific issue Bob

wine configuration

Hi, With a lot of wines configuration moving over to HKEY_LOCAL_USER and magic comments being added to identify places where configuration is read, I though it may be a good idea to move over to a standard function for reading configuration instead of using direct registry access. Something like GetWineConfiguration(USER|MACHINE, "PATH FROM .../wine/", "DEFAULT"); This would enable us to remove the magic comments, make it easier to migrate wines configuration at some point in the future if it's required again and easily lookup per application configuration as well as default behaviour without having to code it explicitly every time. ___________________________________________________________ Yahoo! Possible regressions in IE6 SP1 install

Hello all, I've noticed some problems installing Internet Explorer 6 SP1 with any version of WINE newer than 20050310, and that includes CVS as of yesterday. Apparently, I'm not the only one; many other are also having issues with 20050419 and 20050524. With my current setup, I get this error repeatedly at 81% during installation: fixme:thunk:__regs_CommonUnimpStub generic stub: ? It keeps looping like that on and on forever, and the install never finishes, but the UI stays responsive. I've had many issues installing IE in the past, but nothing like this. Can anyone give me any leads as to what might cause this? If it might help, I've applied Oliver Stieber's latest DX9 patch, and have tried both Wine Tools and Sidenet. Proposal: Let Oleaut32/tests/olepicture.c faile more gracefully with missing libgif

Hallo, while I found strong opposition with my proposal to fail more gracefully with a missing libgif, I still think the FIXME output is enough and the test shouldn't fail, blocking any further test in a "make test" run. To have a possible patch at least in the archive, please find it appended. Palm Desktop Install

Reading that someone was able to install the Palm Desktop software, I decided to try myself. I downloaded the software from Palm, then tried installing it. This is the output. Hallo, make test in dlls/mscms/tests fails in profile.c. It seems that the test expects an installed ColorProfile.exe. However I think our police for the tests is to have them succeed without any other prerequisit. Hans, can you perhaps rethink your test strategy? Bug in dlls/comctl32/comctl32undoc.c

Hi, playing around a bit with wine, i found a thing that is obviously a bug. In lines 1944 and 1977 of dlls/comctl32/comctl32undoc.c the value "0x7FFF" is used to check for the boundary of a 32 bit integer. However, there should be used MAX_INT instead. By the way: Looking at current MSDN, DPA and DSA looks rather documented than "undoc" :-) Regards Sascha P.S.: Please CC me on answers as i'm not subscribed here.

Get Firefox Button

Tom, I've been following your discussion about putting a Get Firefox button on the WineHQ front page. While I'm a big fan of Firefox, I think that we should advocate the more generic W3C standards instead, and use XHTML that is valid against those. That way, we can support pretty much any browser.
