Wine causing a Segmentation Fault

I am using the CVS wine as of 6/22/04 and when I run the compiled binary of wine, I get a Segmentation Fault. In fact, most of the wine* binaries located in /usr/local/bin give me a Segmentation Fault. I have tried a manual compile: ./configure, make depend && make, su -c make install. and using the wineinstall tool. I'm running fedora 2 and using the sources. RPMs don't work either. -- David Lee

The display is quite chorked up by the time the unhandled exception occurs, so I'm pretty sure something bad has already happened; I just don't know what. problem with linkage of so under RHEL3

Guys (I'll be looking into it tomorrow but I thought I'd see if anyone already knows) Command line application opens a dll using LoadLibrary. That Dll links to odbc odbc uses unixODBC to link to the new Oracle 10g Beta ODBC client. That client so access rather a lot of Oracle libraries Relocation error occurs /usr/local/bin/wine-pthread: relocation error: /opt/oracle/product/10.1.0/client_1/lib/libsqora.so: undefined symbol: SQLGetPrivateProfileString The application can also be built under Linux, as can "That Dll" and link directly to unixODBC. Under that configuration it works fine. In all the messing about with the threading etc can anyone think immediately of where we might have messed up the linking? does wineshelllink work for use with GNOME?

Hi, Does anybody know of the issues when making shortcuts on the main menu on GNOME (redhat 9)? It seems to me that the .desktop files are created under the right folder ($HOME/.gnome/apps) but the shortcuts dont appear on the menu. As far as I could figure the way to go about adding to the main or system menu is to make entries in the Applications.directory file in /etc/X11/desktop-menus and then have your app .desktop files in /usr/share/applications. Why dont the .desktop files under $HOME/.gnome/apps show up on the menu? Any other ideas? Similarly on redhat 9 for KDE the shortcuts seem to be required to be under $HOME/.kde/applnk-redhat but wineshelllink puts them in applnk folder. Is this correct? Thanks in advance! winedbg crashes

Hi, I'm having some trouble with the debugger and a large C++ application I'm trying to debug. This seems unrelated to the recent changes that were made (the old debugger used to have issues as well). Hi all, greetings from the Wine booth at LinuxTag! :) (Uwe Bonnes and me are there) The following program which a school employee (4000 pupils!) asked me about that prevents his school administration from switching to Linux has problems with continuous redrawing of the menu bar and non-redrawing of the client area (resulting from continuous menu redrawing?): http://schulverwaltungsprogramme.mswwf.nrw.de/mswf_software/html/winplan.ht… Note that installation runs fine; it's the main program which breaks. The relay log shows signs of a WM_WINDOWPOSCHANGING/WM_WINDOWPOSCHANGED loop or something like that. Can I double check that this is actually all there is to it? My reading of the changelog was that this is only the calculations have been moved into the server, but the rest of it has not been. For instance, I haven't checked but it didn't look like InvalidateRect was rewritten. If this is it then I'll resend my LockWindow patch but I think there is more to come ... Alexandre? It looks like in bug 1435 they wanted to avoid triggering of error if no more files found. But could not understand why they wanted to avoid triggering of error when the specified filename does not exists. In MS windows if File Not found, then it returns error. So we could satisfy both by just doing the following check: > if (le != ERROR_NO_MORE_FILES) return LB_ERR; So the above condition triggers error for all the error conditions except for ERROR_NO_MORE_FILES. I suspect what you are really trying to do is to revert the change in rev 1.94, but this causes other problems (cf. bug 1435). MSVCRT - __unDNameEx

Hey, I encountered an app that heavily relies on __unDNameEx which is a stub, and I couldn't find any MSDN info on it. The stub did have a hint as to an implementation of it, said that it's been implemented pretty well in tools/winebuild/msmangle.c I looked for that, couldn't find it, but I did find it in the CVS attic in wine/tools/speckmaker http://cvs.winehq.com/cvsweb/~checkout~/wine/tools/specmaker/Attic/msmangle… Is there a reason this isn't used there? or can I clean it up a little and include it? Yes it does have some fixme's, but it's better than ignoring it. Thanks, Andrei

Control.exe Replacement

Setting up drive letters without wineinstall?

OK, if wineinstall is no longer needed, how does one get drive letters set up? The doc on winehq seems to still tell people to edit the config file. The 'le' is an integer value and not a bitwise value. This means it could have only one error condition at a time. The condition: if ((le != ERROR_NO_MORE_FILES) && (le != ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)) return LB_ERR; Could never return LB_ERR even if file was not found. Hence we have changed to the logical OR condition which could trigger error either if no more files or file not found: if ((le != ERROR_NO_MORE_FILES) || (le != ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)) return LB_ERR; Please find attached sample executable (DIRLIST.exe.zip has the executable), which demonstrate the behavior change between windows and wine. Run the sample and enter invalid path name or file name and press enter (click on Display button). On windows it displays error message "DlgDirList Failed...". Same steps when repeated on wine, it does not display this error message because of the above logical error. Port to native x86_64?

Greetings - I'm interested in porting Wine to run in native x86_64 mode, and was wondering if anyone had attempted to do such a thing already? I notice that there does not appear to be any support in CVS to do this, but figured that perhaps someone else is already undertaking such an effort. My main motivation for doing so has to do with video driver support, in that the 32bit "emulated" applications are unable to use the 64bit 3D accelerated drivers, and fall back to software rendering - which is less than ideal. While this may eventually be resolved by the device drivers, I'd rather not wait for them. Any comments, or hints as to what needs to be done (other than the obvious compile time fixes) would be appreciated. I've got software development experience, but none porting code from a 32bit architecture to a 64bit one. Thanks! Sean.

I haven't tested any non-directx software, anyway, both the winmm and dsound tests give quite a few errors, the logs are attached. I can hear the test tones, BTW the dsound one is much louder than the winmm one for no obvious reason. Ivan.

Wine oss doesn't work with the via82cxxx_audio audio driver shipped in the linux kernel, no other app has any problems, so I'm wondering if it's wine related. What info is needed to debug this? Ivan.

Problem with Soundblaster Live and Wine

Hi, I have a problem with my Soundblaster Live and Wine. When running Windows Applications, they often set the mixer level for the PCM channel to 100%. However, the Soundblaster Live under Linux tends to sound a bit dirty at these levels, you have to use values under 80%. Is there anything I can do to tell wine to let this value unchanged? I am using ALSA and the OSS module of wine. Is anyone even aware of this problem? Thanks, Tony.
