Where to deal with CRLF in Files retrieved with HTTP

Hallo, Xilinx ISE 6.1 webupdate retrieves files per http. These files are CRLF terminated and some of their contend is treated as strings as target for the next HTTP request. This leads to a request like 0014:Call wininet.HttpOpenRequestA(42f6eeb0,1002a268 "GET", 438e17be "/direct/swhelp/series6/6.1i_latestservicepack.dat\r",... ^^ The \r at the end of the string results in the file not found on the server. Running with native wininet results in the same error. Who is responsible for stripping the \r? Crash in 16-bit code

This crash happens when trying to run the installer of a game; I believe it is some old InstallShield version. Any ideas of how I can get more information out of this? Another point : Im not easy with ansi-related questions. You give 2 versions of explorer into the binary snapshot on your website. What are the differences between them ? Forgot to mention: the Maastricht airport is just some 20km away and (the much bigger) Duesseldorf International airport is a one hour train trip. So connectivity is good. Also it is really very central europe, just have a look... And.. yeah Aachen is a town with histoy (ex kaiser residence and stufF) and has the highest pub/population ratio in Germany AFAIK. Hi folks, I'd propose Aachen, Germany as meeting location. I am a student (mec. engineering) at the local technical university and depending on the amound of work involved I'd be very happy to get things up and going for you. There is quite cheap hotel room in Aachen (and I can do some research on that aswelll) and our university has the main buildings right in the city which can provide conference space. There are regularly taking place conferences (science and industry, mostly) and so in the biggest lectures hall in the Karman auditorium. The place has networking installed, and although the WLAN has not too great coverage I guess there's possibilities to come around that (1 or 2 additional WAPs, probably). Aachen is a nice 250.000 town, it's close to the three country triangle Belgium-Germany-Netherlands. uxtheme.dll

I started work porting a windows app using winelib, and hit an issue relating to the fact that there is currently no implementation of uxtheme.dll (and more importantly, no headers, of which would be enough to compile the app as it dynamically loads all the uxtheme dlls as needed, and falls back gracefully) Because of this, I've been thinking about beginning an implementation of uxtheme.dll. I am curious if someone has already taken up this task, or if anyone any opinions on this topic. Thanks Kevin

Hi list, What about Sorrento, there are good conference facilities, hotel rooms can cost as little as 60 euro per night, it's warm (temperature in between 10 and 20 C°), there a lot to see and to do(For example it's only twenty minutes from Pompei and fifteen from Capri) there is good transport, prices are low (It is south europe), I can get it organized if you don't want to go to siberia.

There is clearly only one appropriate response to this situation: I've decided I'm going to write a DIB engine, here in St. Paul. This is your last chance to stop me...<grin> Anyone else care to volunteer? Why don't we make a deadline for offering to host by Sunday night. I'll get a list of all the folks that are dead serious about being willing to do all the work of being a host, and then we'll put up a quick + dirty survey/voting form, and we'll go to the city that will get the best attendance. How does that sound? If this works, then everyone that is dead serious about being willing to host Wineconf needs to send me an email. I agree with Sachar that we need to resolve this quickly; I think January is a good time for Wineconf, and 3 months is not that much lead time. Cheers, Jeremy

I think it depends where you live. If you aren't copying any original code you aren't violating copyright. In the EU (This includes the UK so I doubt that this http://www.winehq.org/hypermail/wine-devel/2003/10/0076.html can apply to the UK), even if you disassemble something to understand how it works and write something that does the same thing, it's legal, so until you aren't doing copy/paste from the original code you're OK, even if you've read it to see how it works. In places where software patents are valid, you may be breaking the law, if that software is patented(DMCA?).

question about copyright and code, is this legal?

Say I have a piece of code, x (which is copyright) which always returns the same output for a given input (e.g. a function that implements a math formula or a function that retrieves some value from an internal data table stored in the dll or whatever) Lets then say that I havent seen this code (either origonal C code or disassembly) Say I was to write a program that calls this function for all valid inputs and prints the inputs and outputs. If I was to take the output of this program and, without refering to the origonal function or the dump program in any way (i.e. using just the "truth table" for the function) generate a function that, for any given input, generates the same output as the original, have I broken the law?
