Win32 Mozilla 1.4b+ GCC (MingW)?

Anyone see the release info for Mozilla 1.4 Beta? It says: "As of Mozilla 1.4b, it is possible to build Mozilla for Win32 using GCC." Here's the specific build instructions for Windows: http://www.mozilla.org/build/win32.html It notes: GCC for Win32 is available as part of the MinGW project. Lotus Notes and wine and RedHat 9

Hi I apologize in advance for hitting the developers list. IANAD... I had been running wine on 7.2 with Lotus Notes 5.0.11 successfully. I made the unfortunate discovery about RH9 and threads and wine a little too late after upgrading to RH9. I will be more careful next time... Anyways, I downloaded the source (2003-05-08), and managed to configure with --with-nptl (as at http://www.winehq.org/index.php?issue=164#Wine%20&%20RedHat%209.0) make dep, make and make install it. (I am closer to a newbie than a developer, so this was a major achievement!). But I ran into a problem that has already been reported at (thank you google) http://www.winehq.com/hypermail/wine-devel/2003/05/0141.html (the issue was unresolved. Kevin rolled back to a previous wine source from 5/1/2003). As with that post, there had been no changes to the install in the wine directory. The Lotus Notes splash screen comes up. The background for Notes itself comes up. The password box appears, and the error happens when I punch in the password and hit OK. I noted the post by Uwe at http://www.winehq.com/hypermail/wine-devel/2003/05/0144.html , but Uwe was hinting at my newbiness with "Do you know how to integrate this in wine? If not, tell me to send you a patch for testing." The answer to both is No. Even if I received a patch, I wouldn't have a clue. I am willing to try, but would llikely need some hand holding...like which file, where it's located etc... Again, apologies for hassling the devel list, I'm out of my depth here, but I will help if I can. TIA ws PS: hope this helps someone else: - after initial install and attempting to run an app thru wine, it 'hung' at the end of the font 'registration' (not sure it that is the right term), ie once it had got to 100%. X was running at about 70% cpu and wine at 30%. Eventually I ctrl-c'd it and rebooted. - after trying again, i received an error about winedefault.reg. Googling for this didn't help me locate where it was. But it was in the most obvious place. The root of the source download. Ran regedit winedefault.reg - then ran into the above. PPS - words of encouragement. Hi Gerald, Well, if you want somebody to blame, blame me. Personally, it doesn't bother me as much. If you think a few extra spaces cause headaches, try figuring out how to make a one line change in a ~500 line function with 30+ variables... if you want to clean stuff up, I think your time would be better spent splitting up some of the monster functions, rather than nitpicking spacing. WINNLSEnableIME

Hi all, Been getting an error with Kaleidagraph, complaining that WINNLSEnableIME in user32 is unimplemented (which it is). Seems like an old win16 API call that shouldn't be used any more, i'm not sure, but http://sgc.jandar.net/files/docs/x68.txt says: Ex68 was designed for Japanese Windows. In order to make it function on any other kind, you will need to patch the Ex68.EXE file. Here's how: With a Hex-Editor, search for text WINNLSEnableIME, then replace it with EnableWindow . You'll have a couple of spaces left over, switch over to Hex mode, and fill those with 00's This implies that its an EnableWindow call in disguise, but I'm not sure, it may just be that they chose this merely because its a function with the same parameters/return type as WINNLSEnableIME. Editing user32.spec to get it to call EnableWindow has got it working, but I'm not sure this is the proper solution.. perhaps it should be calling WINNLSEnableIME16 in dlls/winnls? Thanks, Mark

D3D8-18 patch and GTA3

The GTA 3 game runs also with the D3D8-18 patch. Only it goes very slow and gives the following texture errors: fixme:d3d:IDirect3DDevice8Impl_SetTextureStageState Unhandled D3DTSS_TEXCOORDINDEX 10000 fixme:d3d:IDirect3DDevice8Impl_SetCurrentTexturePalette (0x40289eb8) : stub fixme:d3d:IDirect3DDevice8Impl_SetTextureStageState see if D3DTOP_SELECTARG1 behavior is correct now! The screen displays only polygons and colors but no textures.

d3d8-18 patch doesn't compile on RedHat 9.0

I have a problem with the d3d8 patch. First, the ./configure script skips the dlls/d3d8 and secondly, if I compile the files manually with the Makefile the source files do compile with almost no warnings, but when it is linked it to d3d8.dll.so complains about lots of GL definitions missing. An example: device.o(.text+0x44dc):/TOOLS/wine/dlls/d3d8/device.c:1770: undefined reference to "glGetError" with the configure command: ./configure --with-nptl --with-x All GL header files are at their correct place and are found by the configure script and makefiles.

Hello, i am currently trying to compile a source which uses the DECIMAL stuct with wine's headers and gcc 2.95.3 but i can not figure out how to access the members Mid32 and Lo32 of the struc. Can someone please tell me how to do this? Thanks Stefan

Agent opens on another desktop (revisited)

I just happend to install OpenOffice on my system and while the installation was running I switched to another desktop. When OO installation was finished, a dialog popped up, telling me so. The mahor difference to wine running Agent is, that Agent opened the new dialog on my current desktop, while the OO installer switched me back to the desktop where I launched the main program and showed me the dialog there. Either they did provide for this specifically or they use a different method. How does wine handle this? Could it be that wine retrieves the desktop info always anew and OO maybe only at startup and passes it on? My guess would be that this happens in OO, so I think it would be better to do this in wine as well. I think it is rather counterintutive when suddenly a messagebox or something pops up out of nowhere. Also there could be circumstances where a dialog or messagebox is hidden because the user just switched. These circumstances could be provided for if the windows for an application stay on the same desktop where the main app is running. This doesn't mean that wine should run entirely on the same desktop it started from, only indivudual applications should. I don't know enough of the X lower stuff, so maybe somebody who knows this area could comment on it. W95INF32.DLL added to wine

I just sent the patch for adding the w95inf32 dll to the wine sources. I hope that the patch script is ok. I used diff -u for the tree, but I was not so sure about on how to do the new directory. NPTL auto detection

Hi Alexandre, You said a few months ago Wine would soon detect whether to enable NPTL support at runtime rather than compile time. Presumably this will get in as part of the CodeWeavers merge. Do you know how long that might be? Progman DDE Server

Hi, While installing, mIRC 6.0.3 (evaluation), the installer was unable to create some links for mirc. I got the following error: err:ddeml:DdeConnect Done with INITIATE, but no Server window available Obviously, it seems that the required DDE server is not up and runnning. By enabling tracing on ddeml channel, i have found the queried server; it's Progman DDE server. On win2k (and other windows platforms i think), it seems that this server is launched when the system starts up or when a user logs in (i don't really know). Nevertheless, on wine this DDE server is not currently launched. Although, the progman application exists, is there a DDE server version already present in wine source tree ? Other question, when a program requires the Progman DDE server , should wine launch it automatically ? The DDE server would shutdown itself when the last wine instance exits. Is it possible to associate this DDE server with wineserver ? Stéphan

Hello, Is there any reason why Wine's implementation of DOS function 0x3c (create file with handle) explicitly ignores the invalid flag bits (volume label and directory)? NT4 returns error if any of these bits is set. Some PKSFX files have problem with this, since they try to create directories the invalid way (function 0x3c, flag=0x30, that is, archive directory), and they create FILES instead, which they can not cd later, of course... I was not able to find any information on possible extended use of the above function. So again, is there any reason why Wine does not conform the specification? Feri.

ALSA MIDI

I am back from taking a break from Wine. Not that anyone noticed I was gone. :-) Before I took my break I had done some stuff locally for ALSA MIDI and DirectMusic. I see that some stuff has been done on DirectMusic in my absence, but I maybe I will still have something to contribute there. But in Eric Pouech's recent interview, he made mention that MIDI was still missing from the ALSA driver. I will submit what I can dig back up soon if nobody else is on the verge of submitting something. So speak now, or forever hold... nevermind. wine and accessibility

hi, I was trying to run accessibility enabled applications with wine. I was happy to find out that things like high contrast viewing and keyboard shortcuts seem to work fine. But screen readers like jaws fail. They seem to look for certain desktop api's Like OpenInputDesktop and OpenDesktop, which are stubs in wine. Is somebody out there working on "windows station and desktop api's" ? e.g. OpenInputDesktop() Or, Do an alternative way exists for screen readers on unix, and porting accessibility applications from windows is not worthwhile ?? Adding a new DLL question

I now managed to get my DLL accepted by the wine framework. Now I wanted to know how it's best to proceed. Currently I have created the directories for w95inf32 with the spec file and a c file. I also added the directory to autoconf.ac and to dlls/Makefile.in so that it gets recogniced by wine. The c file is currently empty and contains only the skeleton of the exported functions from the DLL. Shall I submit this already to wine or is it prefered that I try to add some functionality first? I don't know how long it will take until I can get some working code on this because I need to reverse engineer the code. SMapLS_IP_EBP question

In a DLL I looked into the exported function calls SMapLS_IP_EBP/SUnmapLS_IP_EBP. I noticed that these functions are implemented in wine/memory.c (if I remember correctly), but I haven't found any code in wine that references this functions. Now I wonder why. These functions deal with linear/segmented pointers which I suppose are used for 32/16 Bit transition. The DLL has two implementations one for 32 and one for 16 Bit and I assume that the 32 Bit version uses code from the 16 Bit code. I guess that there are other DLLs where the same would be true, so I would expect that other DLL implementations also call these functions (at least in the original version). Since there are no calls in wine to this functions, does this mean that this can be ignored because it is an implementation detail?
