Opengl Glide

Greetings, I've been trying to get StarSiege Tribes 1 to work on wine, basicly this is what's currently wrong: * As soon as any key is pressed, wine quits = Fix with native dinput.dll version dx4->dx6 * Opengl isn't detected and impossible to choose = Currently no fix, although it works to use glidewrappers. Don't know what Tribes uses to detect opengl. The basic errors i'm getting in the terminal is. fixme:dinput:IDirectInputDevice2AImpl_EnumObjects (!stub) fixme:dsound:IDirectSoundImpl_SetCooperativeLevel err:dinput:SysMouseAImpl_Unacquire Unacquiring a not-acquired device !!! The first fixme, makes me hope that if that is fixed it might get Tribes to work using our own builtin dinput.dll My other question is this, if i want to use glide (got a voodoo3) how do i enable and use this in wine? Do i do a ./configure --enable-glide or --with-glide ? And so on.. I've compiled Mesa with glide support and installed the glidev3 package (using gentoo). Haven't been able to find any info on the homepage or mailing lists, and if needed i could compile a nfo file covering the subject once i understand it better. I would like to point out also that Tribes is working quite well in software mode and since late fall last year i've noticed that many problems has dissapeared. hi guys, in dlls/icmp/icmp_main.c would it be possible to use system("/bin/ping..."); if not running as uid 0?, (or using pipes if the ouput needs to be parsed) as /bin/ping is obviously usually suid root and if the required options are available as arguments to /bin/ping then wine can do as requested without running as root, this would be useful to me with something im working on. if you guys do consider it a possibility, i would be willing to research it and write the patch, id just like the go-ahead from you :) if you can think of any other way round it, id be greatful to hear your suggestions. _________________________________________________________________ Worried what your kids see online? For pop-up and childs windows if witdh = CW_USEDEFAULT, width and height are set to 0. For overlapped windows, the width and height are set to make the lower-right corner of the windows corresponds to the lower_right corner of the screen. So the question is why does the game create a pop-up instead of a standard windows. That would be cool if we can solve this issue. Hello I am trying to port over adobe Photoshop. Building crosstest ...

Hi everyone, Apologies for the rambling email, but here's a bit of a brain-dump. I don't know how much of this people already know about ... After banging my head against a wall for the past week or so, I've put together a script that builds a cross-compiling mingw. The cross-compiler should be suitable for building .EXE conformance test executables and is available from: http://www.astro.gla.ac.uk/users/paulm/Scripts/build-mingw-cross.sh Have a look at the top of the script to see how to get things working. (yes, I know /. has just done this, but their HOWTO is old, circa '99) That should be enough to get mingw for cross-compiling under wine, but there's still problems with the crosstest target for me. Using the current CVS, crosstest depends on winebuild. But the cross-compilation doesn't actually use winebuild. Worse, it fails whilst trying to building winebuild (missing libraries), if you haven't already built wine. I guess winebuild is missing some dependencies. Just an idea that could be of use. Since the __errno_location cannot be replaced anymore in glibc 2.3, isn't it possible to replace the %gs segment instead - Wine could create it's own %gs segments for it's threads, containing the errno's address where glibc is ecpecting it to be. Lucho

Can you please add alt, height and width statements to the paypal button? It's completely invisible with konqueror otherwise (yes, I do have image loading diabled :-). The same is true for most pictures on the winehq pages. On a related topic: When will the new web pages be moved to winehq? GDI question

Hi, I'm testing some apps installation with either the free WineHQ, WineX, Crossover Office, and many times I see buttons and other GUI related stuff in the wrong size or place, and I understand it's a GDI related issue, so here's 3 questions.. 1. Is the GDI implementation is so bad that it needs hacking per app to make it look ok? 2. Is there a way to take GDI parts from native WIndows and use it in Wine? 3. Funding - can any company (transgaming, CodeWeavers, others) can estimate the cost of rewriting a better (and faster - the speed of Wine graphics today is something in magnitude of 486 PC!) GDI? Windows API database / map

I've begun cross referencing the windows dlls in a 'map' format as Dan Kegel suggested. I'm not finished yet because it seems when I sort alphabetically I am sorting the entire path. If anyone has comments or suggestions on how to improve it or the next logical step please let me know.

I suggest you read the GNU manifesto. Then how can we figure out how to get a desktop shell working etc? There is one possible significant difference between installation of a program and changing disks in the course of a game as you describe: in the first case wine is running setup.exe which is on the CD, and hence wine has processes open which access the CD drive. In your case wine is running the game program which has been transferred to the hard disk. It is now Riven which accesses the CD drive and (conceivably) when the time comes to change the CD, it will first close down all processes which use the drive. Maybe. Thanks for your comments. By the way, under Wine the WS_VISIBLE and WS_VSCROLL style options are missing on this listbox. However, it has a vertical scrollbar, and visible. :) Is this normal? (I found no documentation for WS_VISIBLE.) Thanks: Feri.

Large number of patches

We've been putting a fair bit of work into wine over the last 6-8 months, and we've only recently had time to sit back and make patches- so sometime in the next couple of days I should have about 30 patches to submit. Most of them under 100 lines, but a few are over 200 lines and the biggest is about 600 lines long. Some of them are solaris/big-endian specific, but the majority of them are not. I'll have the patches as separate patch files with ChangeLog entries and descriptions - the question is whether I should submit them to wine-patches as 30 separate email messages or as a single message with 30 attachements... Anyone have a strong preference on this? Anything else special I should do? Warren

Scrollbars misplaced in several apps

Several apps I've tried (including my company's app) have scrollbars in the wrong place, inset in the window by one scrollbar width. Duane Clark has seen this, too, and said "... the scrollbars being in the wrong position in the richtext window? I am pretty sure that is a richtext bug. I see it in every application that uses richtext. For example, run notepad and then resize the window. " (I tried running notepad, and couldn't reproduce it myself, so maybe I'm confused.) One app that shows the problem is Resource Hunter (free trial download at http://www.boilsoft.com/rchunter.html). Just start it, and look at the position of the scrollbars in the lower left pane. Is this a well-known problem? I'd like to try fixing it if nobody has a patch yet. I need to know why ExitThread is called inside the "start_process" function i.e. which thread we are exiting in this case? Another thing? Which function is responsible for stat executing the binary file?
