Patch for lotus (resubmit)

The attached patch (by Toby Haynes I think) has not made it into CVS and I was wondering what needs to be done to make it accepatable. I know that it is a hack but it makes lotus work. Problems with the new -DNO_LIBWINE on i386-mingw

Should I need to build libwine if I'm just building tools, programs and dlls? I have no need of wineserver for the mingw port but I will need it for the cygwin port. x error when multiple wine processes running

In testing the dreamweaver installer, I keep getting these errors: err:font:AddFontFileToList Already loaded font L"Wingdings 3" L"Regular" X Error of failed request: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) Major opcode of failed request: 15 (X_QueryTree) Resource id in failed request: 0x2c00014 Serial number of failed request: 63 Current serial number in output stream: 63 when I do a ps -A | grep wine I see that there are three wine processes running and two wineservers. Doing a killall wine allows me to run the app again. Does anyone know why this is happening? I've also seen other X errors after a crashed wine app where the x error is invalid window parameter but the opcode is X_CreateWindow or X_ChangeWindowAttributes. The Component Categories Manager

I have been playing with getting a large application made with VB6 and using many third-party ActiveX controls to work with Wine. I am currently having a problem with the absence of COMCAT.DLL and The Component Categories Manager which is ostensibly implemented in it. In fact, Windows implements it in OLE32.DLL; COMCAT.DLL has do-nothing stubs for the registration functions and forwards DllGetClassObject to OLE32.DLL. The MSDN documentation for The Component Categories Manager seems very straightforward; it documents ICatRegister and ICatInformation, which I believe I could implement. Since I've not contributed to Wine before, and just recently joined the digested list, I want to check the following things: * Is anyone else working on this at the moment? * Is there a major technical reason this can't be done yet? * Is there some other reason for me not to work on this soon? * How should the source for this new functionality be organized? * Is there a standard (or exemplary) way to implement IEnumXXXX? I'll be needing IEnumCATID, IEnumCLSID, and IEnumCATEGORYINFO. * What should I do when I think I have working code?

native user32 dll

I'm still trying to fix aol so it can communicate with the web proxy, and I think I've narrowed down the problem to user32.dll, kernel32.dll, and ws2_32.dll. Is it possible to use the native user32.dll? I know kernel and ws3_32 don't work native. It was possible to use Win95's native versions at some point (if all other DLLs that depend on it, such as comctl32 and comdlg32, were also run native). Help with LCM_Unicode_LUT in ole2nls.c wanted

Hallo, looking at LCMapStringW, I think we need some table like the LCM_Unicode_LUT[] table. However - I don't understand where the values come from. Odd values seem to be a collation of flags, even values to be some character weight and LCM_Diacritic_LUT[] is some weight for the diacritic. - Do the tables in ../wine/unicode somehow contain enough information to generate these tables? Bug 446: SetFileAttributes and BufferOverflow

Looking at Bugzilla bug 446 and the msdn, it would appear (and testing confirms) that: rc = SetFileAttributes("fff", FILE_ATTRIBUTE_NORMAL | FILE_ATTRIBUTE_READONLY ); _is_ valid and sets readonly. In the msdn "However, all other values override FILE_ATTRIBUTE_NORMAL." The wine code (files\file.c) prints a fixme if anything is set alongside attribute_normal: if (attributes & FILE_ATTRIBUTE_NORMAL) { attributes &= ~FILE_ATTRIBUTE_NORMAL; if (attributes) FIXME("(%s):%lx illegal combination with FILE_ATTRIBUTE_NORMAL.\n", lpFileName,attributes); } I would suggest a trace point rather than a fixme or remove this check altogether As to the buffer overflow, the only thought I have is a missing \n on the end of the error msg: if (!S_ISDIR(buf.st_mode)) FIXME("SetFileAttributes expected the file '%s' to be a directory", lpFileName); Thoughts? Application Database RFC

I have done a lot of thinking about the Application Database http://appdb.codeweavers.com lately and how the rating system works. We currently have 848 Applications in there but only 58 with a 5 star rating which works out to less than 10% and thats the good news. The bad news is that of those 58 only 26 rate that without windows installed. After takeing a closer look, none of the apps I looked at actualy rated 5 star by my way of judging. Now maybe I'm overly critical but in my way of thinking If the app doesn't install in wine then it shouldn't get a 5. IMHO We need to set criteria that give us a better/less subjective way of measuring how well we are doing. So this is what I have come up with. 1. Installation (total possible 2) Installs in wine with fake windows 2 points Installs in wine with windows mounted 1 point Does not install in wine 0 points 2. Running & DLLS (total possible 2) Runs fine using all builtin dlls 2 points Runs fine using native dlls 1 point Does not run/crashes on startup 0 points 3 Running general (total possible 2) program does not crash ever 2 points Program crashes only after long use or rare aspect used 1 point program crashes on startup or doing common function 0 points 4. Date tested. Verison of wine used Each of the sections should have a comment field and a place to enter a url to a bug report if applicable Applications could be scored based as a percentage. Applications that use all critera would need all 22 points to get a 100% rating. For other applications some of these criteria are not applicable and their score would use a lower base score. Idealy we would be able to look at the AppDB and list all programs that have problems with any of the criteria Probably the most usefull aspect of this is that it gives users and developers a real way of measuring how well wine really is doing and where problems that affect the most programs are. I have cross posted this because I think this is important to both users and developers. Any comments, criticisims or helpfull suggestions welcome Tony Lambregts

They give: err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x40b724a4 "x11drv_main.c: X11DRV_CritSection" wait timed out, retrying (60 sec) fs=023f err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x407a9718 "user.c: USER_SysLevel" wait timed out, retrying (60 sec) fs=008f wine: Unhandled exception, starting debugger... But I never actually get a debugger prompt, so I don't have more info then that. In any case, I just downloaded the binary tar file: http://ftp.xfree86.org/pub/XFree86/4.2.0/binaries/Linux-ix86-glibc22/Xbin.t… and took out just the libXrender.so.1.1, and installed it. Everything seems to work fine with that.
